Jennifer Jorgensen, the daughter of Mike and Virginia Jorgensen of Washington, will be inducted into the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Softball Hall of Fame during the state softball tournament in Fort Dodge on July 26.

Jorgensen, a 2008 graduate of Southeast Webster-Grand High School, was a five-time all state selection. She was selected to the third team as an eighth-grader and the first team each year after that. She was an elite team selection in 2007 and 2008.  She was the Class 1A Offensive Player of the Year in 2005, 2007 and 2008. She was selected the 1A Player of the year in 2007 and 2008. Jorgensen finished her career with 442 hits, the most all time in Iowa high school history, and she held a career .574 batting average. She scored 344 runs in her career, which is tied for the most all time in Iowa. She is also the state and national record holder for career stolen bases with 380 steals.

The Eagles qualified for three state tournaments during her tenure, finishing fifth in 2005, third in 2007 and sixth in 2008. Jorgensen was selected to the all-tournament team for all three and was named the team captain in 2007. She still holds the 1A state tournament records for batting average and steals.

Jorgensen’s father, Mike, who coached her in high school, was inducted into the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association Softball Hall of Fame in 2011. He is currently the Superintendent of Schools for the Washington Community School District.

Jorgensen went on to play basketball at Grand View University in Des Moines, where she was named the 2012 NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Year after finishing third in the nation in scoring at 23.2 points per game. She is currently serving in her second year as a graduate assistant for the Illinois Wesleyan University women’s basketball program.
