Mrs. Gould was born July 3, 1927, in Rock Island, Illinois, the daughter of Harry and Martha (Davidson) Murphy. She married George Gould of Conesville on March 25, 1950.

She was raised by her grandparents, John and Sallie Davidson, in Washington, where she graduated from Washington High School in 1945. She then attended AIB College of Business in Des Moines. She and her husband made their home in Washington, where they farmed before moving to Brighton in 1974. In 1986 they moved to Corvallis, Oregon, to be near their daughter and family. She worked as a nurses aide at Washington County Hospital, then in the Washington County Treasurer’s office for many years, though her favorite job was that of a devoted, loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She enjoyed her time with the HEO Neighborhood Club and deeply cherished her Christian faith. She always enjoyed gardening, preserving, cooking, knitting, sewing and caring for family. Caring for and watching animal life was a favorite pastime. She was known as having a joyful, gracious, playful spirit.

Surviving are one daughter, Deb Longest and husband Chuck of Washington; one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sally Kaller of Colona, Illinois, and Bonnie Burton and husband Lloyd of Reynolds, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 2010; one son-in-law, Gary Franzen; and two brothers, Carl, and Jack Murphy.
