Kathryn Genivieve "Kate" Ross, age 88, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington.

Celebration of life services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the United Presbyterian Home Main Dining Room with Chaplain Andrew Zuehlke and Pastor Jim Stiles officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30 p.m. on Saturday at the United Presbyterian Home. A private interment will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County. Online condolences may be sent for Kate's family at www.jonesfh.com. The Jones & Eden Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Kate was born July 17, 1929 in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of William Henry and Odessa L. (McNeese) Hotle. She graduated from Washington High School in 1948. Kate was united in marriage to Robert R. Ross on June 26, 1949 in Washington, Iowa.

Early in life, Kate worked as a telephone operator, but found a vocation in sales in various clothing stores and in later years at Lyons Appliance in Washington. She was a member of the United Methodist Church; also for many years she was a member of TTT, Bridge Clubs and the Washington Golf and Country Club. Later in life, Kate contributed to the Washington County Hospital Gift Shop as a volunteer. She loved playing cards, golfing and doting on her grandchildren. She loved her family and will be missed by them.

She is survived by her husband, Robert R. Ross of Washington, Iowa; son, William Ross and wife Nora of Redmond, Ore.; son-in-law, Rich Pierson of Washington, Iowa; grandchildren: Michael Pierson and wife Danielle of Fairfax, Va.; Brett Pierson of Washington, Iowa; Brian Pierson of North Liberty, Iowa; Maggie Pierson of North Liberty, Iowa; Tad Ross and wife Jennifer of Washington, Iowa; and Cory Ross and wife Kelly of Washington, Iowa; and eight great-grandchildren.

Kate was preceded in death by her son, Tony Ross; daughter, Kristine Pierson; parents, William and Odessa Hotle; and siblings: Jacob, Stanley, Paul, Eugene, Keith, Hazel, Virginia, Ruth, Norma and Dorothy.
