Kathryn V. "Kathy" Witthoft, age 66, of Ainsworth, Iowa, died Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at her residence following a courageous eleven-year battle with cancer.

Celebration of life services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 6, 2017, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Chaplain Laurel Swartzendruber officiating. Calling hours will begin at 11:00 a.m. Sunday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Kathy was born October 11, 1951, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur J. and Martha E. (Wylie) Witthoft. She graduated from Washington High School in 1969.

Kathy worked at the University of Iowa Hospitals for 48 years and retired in October of 2017. She worked in the Dietary department, Urology, and was lastly a clerk in the Health Information Department. Kathy had many interests in life including riding and working with horses and collecting Barbies. She co-chaired the food booth for the Horse and Pony 4-H Club for many years. Family was also a big part of Kathy's life. She was known as the "Family Caretaker" having cared for her parents and many other family members over the years.

Kathy is survived by her longtime friend, Tom Hartsock of Ainsworth, Iowa; brother, James "Jim" Witthoft and wife Linda of Ainsworth, Iowa; sister-in-law, Kay Witthoft of Washington, Iowa; five nieces and nephews: Joel Witthoft and wife Darci of Washington, Jamie Mayer and husband Curtis of Washington, Jina Witthoft of Washington, Sarah Witthoft of Washington, Brandon Witthoft and wife Lori of Wellman; three step-nieces and nephews: Jennifer Weber and husband Alan of Harper, Robert Shindelar of Harper, Kate Lefeber and husband Ryan of Ottumwa; and 14 great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by one aunt, Donna Wheelan of Washington, Iowa, as well as numerous cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William Witthoft and Robert Witthoft; one nephew, Brian Witthoft; and several aunts and uncles
