Keota High School homecoming king and queen Casey Sieren and Brayton Flynn ride in the 2012 Keota Fun Days parade.

Keota Fun Days is being held this weekend.
“I’m hoping for good weather, lots of people, and a fun and safe time this year,” said Keota Fun Days chairperson Andy Conrad.
Conrad is in his 12th year as Fun Days director. This year there are a couple of new activities, such as the vendor fair on Saturday, June 8, which will be held inside at Lagos Acres Clubhouse, which begins at noon.
Besides new activities there will be new locations for activities, Conrad said. The Keota Pool will be included and other activities will be held outside of Maplewood Manor.
“We decided to move away from the park because the park is getting new equipment and we weren’t sure when it would be installed,” he said. “It’s nice to include the pool in some of the activities this year and it’s also nice to be near the Maplewood residents so they can come out and be involved.”
Activities begin Friday, June 7, at 5:30 p.m. with food vendors opening up at Lagos Acres Shelter. Also, at 5:30 p.m. there will be kids activities at Lagos Acres Shelter/Keota Pool, and on Green south of Maplewood Manor.
There will be a Garst Seed Horseshoe tournament at 5:30 p.m. Registration for the kids parade begins at 5:45 p.m. at Maplewood Manor. At 6 p.m. the kids parade will take place.
The ice cream social, which is hosted by the Community Club, will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Maplewood Manor Drive. Keota Brass will also be playing music for the ice cream social. The activities for Friday end with a dance for adults with DJ Spike on the Mike at 9 p.m. at The Roost.
Saturday, June 8, is full of events.
Things kick off with the Keota Fun Run. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. at Keota Elementary. The race start time will be at 8 a.m.
Eleven a.m. is the Grand Parade down Broadway Avenue. Registration for the parade will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Parish.
Then at noon the kids’ activities will open once again at the locations listed above. There will be a local vendor market taking place at Lagos Acres. The pedal pull will be held at 12:30 p.m.
Other activities on Saturday include the alumni banquet at 6:30 p.m. at the Keota High School main gym and an Elvis impersonator behind the VFW at 9 p.m.
