Latino Parent Night held

Oct 11, 2017
Parents fill the library for the Washington Community School District’s annual Latino Parent Night held last Thursday.

The Washington Community School administrators and guidance staff took time to converse in Spanish with Latino Parents on Thursday, Oct. 5, at the Washington Public Library during the Latino Parent Night sponsored by the school district.

Administrators and staff presented district news and updates to over 30 parents in attendance.

The Washington High School La Onda Multicultural Group furnished free child care during the meeting.

Washington Community Schools Bilingual Outreach Coordinator, Heather Lujano, facilitated meeting communication by providing English/Spanish interpretation which included a candid question-and-answer dialogue between parents and staff.

The WCSD Latino Parent Meeting is traditionally well-attended, becoming an important point of connection and communication for Spanish-speaking families and school staff.

This year, there were two school board members also in attendance: Jason Hamilton and Sonia Leyva.
