'Lend Me a Tenor' coming to Washington Community Theater

The Washington Community Theater and the Harp Players theater group will present "Lend Me a Tenor" at 7:30 p.m. March 7, 8, 15 and 15 at the Washington Community Theater.

Mike Kramme is the director. The cast includes Greg Wiley as Max, Teresa Swift as Maggie, Mike Tschantz as Saunders, Tom Dawson as Tito, Jean Macenski as Maria, Ed Colby as Bellhop, Rebeka Trotter as Diana, and Barb Chebuhar as Julia.

Winner of three Tony awards and four Drama Desk awards "Lend Me A Tenor" is set in 1934. Saunders, the general manager of the Cleveland Grand Opera Company, is ready to welcome world-famous Tito Merelli, the greatest tenor of his generation to appear for one night only as Otello. The star arrives late and through a hilarious series of mishaps, is given a double dose of tranquilizers and passes out. Saunders and his assistant Max, believe he is dead, and plan a substitution. It’s a funny romp, guaranteed to leave the audience teary-eyed with laughter.

The play is not recommended for children.

Proceeds will benefit the Washington Enrichment Foundation.
