Lime Creek Limelights 4-H Club receives grant

Apr 02, 2013

The Lime Creek Limelights 4-H Club has gone above and beyond to show its commitment to community service by not only creating and believing in a worthy community service project, but by applying for a special statewide grant and being one of only 29 Iowa 4-H Clubs to receive them.

Twenty-nine Iowa 4-H clubs have been awarded 2013 DuPont Pioneer Seed Rural Community Improvement Grants totaling $8,075 to support service projects within their own communities.

Washington County 4-H’s Lime Creek Limelights are investing their community service time and funds to the Wellman area’s new community garden project. This project will give back to the community as it promotes and provides access to healthy living through fresh food choices for the Wellman community. They have planned to start seeds in the greenhouse, purchase potato and onion sets, and volunteer time this spring, summer, and fall to help mulch, weed, and maintain the community’s garden.
