The Washington Lions Club led a project to apply for a grant from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation to purchase a digital camera. Clubs in Lone Tree, Grandview-Letts, Columbus Junction, Ainsworth, Crawfordsville, Wayland, Olds, West Chester, Brighton, Richland and Packwood all pledged to contribute over $4,895 and asked for the other half in the grant.

When grants were awarded, the Washington County Riverboat Foundation surprised the clubs by awarding the full amount of $9,895 for the camera.

The camera has arrived and is already being put to good use. Head Start and the SonShine Academy in Mt. Pleasant have already held screenings. Screenings are also scheduled at the Keota Public School Preschool and the Kountry Kids Daycare south of Kalona.
