Local man arrested after alleged assault

A Washington man was arrested Wednesday morning after allegedly assaulting someone in the parking lot of Fareway in the 300 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington.

According to the Washington County call lot, Jamouri Shontez Hollingsworth, 21, of Washington faces charges of domestic abuse assault and child endangerment. Domestic abuse assault is a serious misdemeanor and can bring up to a year in prison and up to a $1,500 fine. Child endangerment can be an aggravated misdemeanor or a Class D or Class C felony, depending on injuries sustained by the child. An aggravated misdemeabnor, in which the child was not injured, can bring up to two years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.

According to the call log, a caller reported at 11:23 a.m. a domestic situation was happening in the parking lot of Fareway. A subject reported being hit in the head with a stick and pushed onto the cement while holding her 1-year-old child. The caller said the suibject needed medical attention. The suspect had left the scene. Officers and Washington County Ambulance responded.

The subject was transported to the Washington County Hospital emergency room. Hollingsworth was later arrested.

Hollingsworth was previously arrested for domestic abuse assault in Jefferson County in September 2015.

Hollingsworth was also arrested in 2014 following a robbery and assault in which a subject was assaulted and robbed at gunpoint.
