Lois A. Huber, 92, of Ft. Dodge, Iowa died Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at ABCM Rehabilitation Center-East Campus in Independence, Iowa.

She was born September 11, 1925, in Independence, Iowa daughter of Charles L. and Ethel B. (Bice) Bare. She attended the Buchanan County Country Schools and graduated from Independence High School. She then went on to graduate from the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and spent a long career teaching English, history, and special education throughout Iowa. In 1948 she married Keith Huber and made their home in rural Washington county.

Lois was a talented artist and was an advocate for art programs in high schools. She enjoyed spending time refinishing antiques and was an avid reader.

She is survived by her daughters: Karen Huber (Kirk Carlson) of Ft. Dodge, Margaret Huber (Graham Rawles) London, England; a sister, Margaret Croal of Independence, Iowa; two brothers, Keith (Jan) Bare of Emmetsburg, Iowa and Norman (Lea) Bare of Kimberling City, Mo.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Nelson; and brother, Gifford Bare.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday March 10, 2018 at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, Iowa. Burial will be held in Floral Hills Memorial Garden in Hazelton, Iowa. Friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. until service at 11:30 a.m.
