Marilyn Marcella Sharpe, 73, of Keota, died Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at her residence following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 1, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Deacon Derick Cranston officiating. Calling hours will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Washington County.

Marilyn was born Jan. 30, 1944, in St. Helens, Oregon. She attended school in Davenport, Iowa, and graduated from Fr. Ryan’s Catholic School in Davenport. She worked for Pain Management Group in Nashville, Tennessee, for many years. She moved to Keota in 2007 to be close to her family.

She was an active member of the Catholic Church and was an avid reader. She loved spending time with her family. She volunteered at All American Care in Washington, Iowa, for many years. She religiously watched NASCAR and was an avid collector of Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr. items. She was a Tennessee Titans football fan and was a member of the Association of Ladies of Charity in Nashville, Tennessee.

Surviving are one daughter, Crystal Herbert and husband Hank Tusing of Keota; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; the Musgrove family; and her faithful canine companion.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Marcella Ramburg; one son, Todd Herbert; one great-granddaughter; and her dog.
