Men’s Twilight Golf League holds fundraising tournament

Photo by: Bill Gatchel A total of 57 people comprising 19 teams raised money to help area youth golfers at the Washington Golf & Country Club Sunday, June 25. Winning the three-person best-shot tournament was the team of Tom Lowe, Matthew Lowe and TJ Lowe. They shot a 60 over the course of 18 holes, winning by one stroke. The total amount raised is still being calculated.

A total of 57 golfers, comprising 19 teams hit the links at the Washington Golf & Country Club Sunday, June 25, raising money to help area youth golfers.

In the championship flight, the team of Tom Lowe, Matthew Lowe and TJ Lowe tore up the front nine with a seven under 28 highlighted by an eagle 2 on hole No. 6.

They shot a 32 on the back nine for a 10 under 60, which was good enough for a one-stroke win over two teams.

Nick Witthoft, Bob Gaal and Jason Prochaska shot a 31, 30 for a 61 to take second place.

They beat the team of Sarah Nacos, Dalton Myers and Megan Strabala who shot a 30, 31 for a 61, by a card back on hole 18.

Taking first place in the first flight was the team of Smith, Smith and Doughty for a 67.

Second place went to Williams, Vetter and Hall with a 68 and the Nacos Family took third with a 69. There were a total of four 69s. The Nacos family won the card back with a birdie on the 16th hole.

In the second flight, the team of Long, Long, Weidman scored a 70 to take first place. Taking second place was Haigst, Haigst and Rouse with a 71. The team of Mangold, Schmidt and Rousher scored a 71 for third place.

The second-place team won the card back with a par on hole No. 17.

Spot prizes were awarded to Steve Donnolly for getting closest to the pin on hole 2 and Dalton Myers for getting closest to the pin on hole 5.

Al Schmidt won for the longest drive on No. 7. James Strabala won on No. 9 with the longest putt. Winning the gift card drawing was Lane Burlingame.
