Golden Hawk Keaton Duwa  dives for one of his three touchdowns against the L-M Falcons

The first play of the first game gave Mid-Prairie their first touchdown of the year as the Golden Hawks swept the Falcons 42-12 at Letts Friday night.

On the first play of the night, a wide-reciever reverse pass from Golden Hawk Justin Schwartz to reciever Terrhyn djacoby was good for a 63-yard touchdown. After that, it the Hawks’ game to lose in a non-distict match-up.

The Hawks defensive held the Falcon’s offensive to minimal yardage, with the excepton of a defensive breakdown on a kickoff that resulted in a 98 yeard touchdown return for the falcons.

But that was as close as they would get to mounting an offensive threat, while the Hawks continued to score.

The Hawks went into the half-time break with a 35-6 lead.

Golden Hawk Keaton Duwas’s third touchdown in the third quarter put the game on a continous clock and Mid-prairie’s JV squad took the field for the remainder of the game.

Mid-Pririe Coach Pete Cavanagh said he was pleased with his team’s performance.

“I thought we played really well the first half,” he said. “The big difference between this game and the scrimmage with Regina was the attitude and the confidence we showed.”

Cavanagh said the Reginal game helped his team prepare for the season, by showing them what they need to work on.

He said the team would need to continue improvement on some of the details.

“I thought our kids played pretty well for the first game. We had way too many penalties but the effort and execution was pretty good.It was nice to play most of the kids in week one,” he said.
