Jun 06, 2013

ELDON — No. 12 Highland belted 13 hits in its 6-3 non-conference win at Cardinal on Wednesday evening.

Sophomore Bridget Murphy and eighth-grader Kelsey Hora had three hits apiece for the Huskies, and sophomore Courtnee Hahn went 2-for-3 at the plate. Freshman Cheyann Adamson had a triple and drove in two runs, and sophomore Jordan Rath had a hit, drove in a run and scored a run. Junior Katie Hora also had a hit in a pinch-hit appearance.

“This was a great win for us tonight,” Highland head coach Carrie Wieland said. “We kept playing great defense and we hit the ball really well tonight. Our pitchers also did great.”

Sophomore pitcher Katie Springer got the win in a relief appearance. She entered the game in the fourth inning and struck out six batters while only allowing one hit in four innings.

Highland (8-1) won its third straight game and its third game in as many nights. The Huskies will travel to IMS tonight for a junior varsity/varsity doubleheader beginning at 5:30.
