Nov 21, 2012

KALONA — Mediapolis, the fifth-ranked team in Class 3A, cruised to an 87-31 win at IMS on Tuesday night.

The Bullettes (1-0, 1-0 SEISC North) jumped out to a 23-6 lead at the end of the first quarter, but IMS (0-2, 0-2 SEISC North) went on a 10-2 run to trim the lead to 25-16 midway through the second quarter. However, Mediapolis extended its lead to 36-18 by halftime, and then out-scored IMS 25-1 in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.

“Mediapolis is a great team,” IMS head coach Aaron Gingerich said. “I was happy to see our girls make a run on them in the second quarter. We will continue to build on those moments.”

Junior Olivia Yutzy led IMS with 16 points. Sophomore Riley Schmieder added eight points, and junior Kristin Davis had six.

Senior Haley Hillyard and sophomore Andrea Larson scored 24 points apiece for the Bullettes.
