Jun 28, 2017

Beginning Wednesday, July 5, Washington County will close W61 (Riverside Road) to through traffic from 135th Street to approximately a quarter mile south of 130th Street for the extension of two existing reinforced concrete box culverts.

The project consists of removing existing headwalls, extending the culvert barrels, and grading work to improve the foreslopes around each culvert. These activities will help improve the safety of the road. This work is being done in preparation for a Portland Cement Concrete overlay scheduled to be completed next construction season. Iowa Bridge and Culvert, L.C. of Washington, Iowa was awarded the project at a cost of $281,613.07 and local construction dollars are being used to pay for this project.

The entire project will take approximately a month and a half, depending on weather and the contractor’s schedule.

Questions pertaining to the project should be directed to the Washington County Engineer’s Office at (319) 653-7731.
