Performing Arts Center releases schedule

The Washington Area Performing Arts and Events Center has announced its Season Two Entertainment Series to begin September 14.

An Evening of Wonders with Vitaly, Master Illusionist, is the first event of the season.

Vitaly Beckman comes to Washington from Vancouver, Canada.

He won world-wide acclaim through “Penn and Teller: Fool us,” a Las Vegas based competition for magicians.

The goal of “Fool Us” is to stump the magician duo, Penn and Teller. Vitaly accomplished that in 2016, Season Three of their Vegas show.

WAPAEC’s Season Two consists of the following:

Thursday, Sept. 14, 7:30 p.m. An Evening of Wonders, Master Illusionist.

Sunday, Oct. 1, 4:30 p.m. Three Iowa Sopranos, three WHS Alumnae.

Sunday, Nov. 12, 4:30 p Metromix of Iowa City.

Saturday, Jan. 27, 7 p.m. In The Spotlight – Talent Show.

Thursday, March 22, 7 p.m. Generations of Jazz in Washington.

Saturday, May 12, 7:30 p.m. Sue Ellen Hegstrom * alumna Co-sponsored with the Washington Concert Association.

Several special events will be included with the entertainment.

An hors d’oeuvres reception will follow the Three Sopranos Concert.

A Free Donor Recognition Tea will precede the Metromix Concert.

A free dinner will be provided for local and UNI participants in the Generations of Jazz event.

Tickets and more information about Season Two entertainment are available at WashingtonAuditorium.org. Tickets may also be reserved at the Washington Chamber of Commerce.

The Washington Area Performing Arts and Events Center (WAPAEC) is a state-of-the-art venue for plays, musicals, concerts, recitals, comedians, dancers, speakers, festivals, business meetings, conventions and many other events.

The facility is located at 1111 S. Ave. B, attached to the new high school.
