AINSWORTH — The Washington County Conservation Board learned Thursday afternoon that a new county-owned Dodge pickup truck has been equipped with all the items needed for it to become a patrol vehicle for the parks.

The truck, which was delivered last month, has been outfitted with law enforcement associated equipment. Ranger/technician Jayse Horning said the truck’s equipment includes ticketing software and a computer. He said there is a gun rack in the back seat. He said that he and ranger/technician/technical Zachary Rozmus will use the vehicle for patrolling.

“It will make our jobs a lot easier and make things safer for us,” he said.

Horning said the GPS system still is being installed and the county hopes to have it within a few months.

“We spent a lot of money, but we appreciate you guys and we do our best to keep you safe,” board member Craig Capps said. “That is what we are all about.”

In other business, the board:

• discussed the Marr Park Campground Host Program;

• discussed potential action regarding firewood;

• heard an update on the conservation education center exhibits;

• discussed several ongoing projects in the park; and

•heard monthly reports from staff.
