Arrests

Joshua Lee Holmes, 33, of Olds, was arrested Tuesday morning in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington on a Washington County warrant for failure to appear for arraignment on an original charge of possession of controlled substance – methamphetamine, first offense.

Alexsandra Guardado, 31, of Washington, was arrested Tuesday afternoon at 230th Street and Highway 1 in Washington on a charge of driving under suspension, sixth offense, and expired registration.

Jeremy Ryan Mirkes, 21, was arrested Wednesday morning in the 500 block of First Street S.W. in Cedar Rapids on a Washington County warrant for violation of probation on original charge of carrying a weapon, felony eluding, and driving while revoked.

 

Traffic other

A caller Tuesday afternoon in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington reported that a vehicle had been parked in the fire lane for 45 minutes. No one responded to pages over the system in the store. An officer responded and located the owner of the vehicle. She was advised not to park there in the future.

An officer reported being out with two vehicles parked illegally, Tuesday afternoon at South 10th Avenue and East Van Buren Street in Washington.

 

Disabled vehicles

An officer reported a disabled vehicle, Tuesday morning at Highway 218 and 220th Street in Ainsworth. The vehicle was added to the system.

A disabled vehicle was reported Tuesday afternoon in the 2500 block of 320th Street in Wayland. It was added to the system.

 

Fire calls

Iowa County requested Wellman Fire Department, Tuesday afternoon in the 3000 block of Y Avenue in Parnell for a grass fire. It was a controlled burn out of control. Wellman Fire responded, and the fire was extinguished.

A caller Wednesday morning in the 700 block of South Seventh Avenue in Washington reported an abandoned home was on fire. The caller did not believe anyone should be in the house. There were no vehicles or people outside the house at that time. Washington Fire Department, an ambulance, officers, and Alliant Energy responded. The fire was extinguished.

 

Animal complaint

A caller Tuesday afternoon in the 200 block of South Avenue D in Washington reported that the mail carrier got stuck on the porch because of an aggressive loose brown Lab. The owner did eventually come around and get the dog. An officer responded. No one was home. He left a door hanger for the owner to contact him.

A caller Tuesday afternoon in the 1900 block of Highway 92 in Washington requested a welfare check on a white horse. An officer responded. The report was unfounded.

A caller Tuesday night in the 600 block of East Fountain Street in Brighton reported a dead deer in the roadway. An officer responded and removed the deer.

 

Civil standby

An officer advised that he was out doing a civil standby, Tuesday evening in the 600 block of East Second Street in Washington. The female subject was not home, and other arrangements were going to be made with the father. A no-contact order was served.

 

Disorderly conduct

An officer reported being out with an argument, Tuesday morning at East Main Street and South Second Avenue in Washington. The two subjects were arguing about a girlfriend situation and were advised to leave each other alone.

 

Family offense nonviolent

A caller Tuesday night in the 500 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported that she had a no-contact order with her husband, and he was still at the residence. Officers responded. A no-contact order was served on the male subject. He left the residence.

A caller Tuesday night in the 600 block of West Adams reported that her granddaughter was upset about supper and ran down the street on foot. An officer spoke with the caller, and the juvenile did return home.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller requested to see an officer about a situation with a student, Tuesday morning in the 300 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. Documentation was made.

An officer reported that a subject advised him of harassment between two juveniles, Tuesday night in the 1000 block of Second Street in Wellman. The officer spoke with all parties involved. Harassment had occurred at school. The parties were advised to have no further contact.

 

Welfare check

A caller Tuesday morning at highway 78 and Elm Avenue in Brighton reported a guy standing in the ditch on the north side of the roadway, trying to flag people down. The caller did not see any vehicles around. The male subject was wearing a black jacket. An officer responded. A conservation officer located the subjects and their vehicle, stuck in a grassy area at Lake Darling. A towing company towed the vehicle.

 

All other theft

A caller Tuesday afternoon in the 500 block of Highway 1 in Washington reported a theft. An officer responded. A report will be filed.

A caller Tuesday night in the 1500 block of East Washington Street reported that a female subject came in and stole a soda. An officer responded. The family planned to handle the incident.

 

All other offenses

A caller Tuesday evening in the 100 block of West Washington Street in Washington reported that a blue Huffy bicycle had been parked in the alley for a week. It was located on South Iowa Avenue and was taken to the bike shed.
