Arrests

John Edward Walling III, 22, of West Chester, was arrested Wednesday night in the 900 block of Franklyn Avenue in Marengo on a Washington County warrant for violation of probation.

Jimmie Lee Stringer III, 26, of Washington, was arrested Wednesday night in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington on a Linn County warrant for revocation of pretrial release on original charge of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

 

Traffic other

Dispatch reported receiving a call of a semi that lost a trailer, Wednesday morning at East Washington Street and South 12th Avenue in Washington. It was loaded with corn. Nothing had spilled onto the roadway. An officer and a towing service responded. It appeared that someone had pulled the pin that attached the trailer to the tractor when they were parked across from Syngenta. Documentation was made.

 

Disabled vehicles

A deputy reported being out with a vehicle with a flat tire, Wednesday afternoon in the 2600 block of 220th Street in Washington. The officer assisted the subjects in getting their tire changed.

An officer reported a disabled vehicle, Thursday morning in the 1900 block of 250th Street in Washington. The vehicle was unoccupied and was off the traveled portion of the roadway. It was tagged and added to the system.

 

Assault

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 300 block of West Main Street in Washington reported he was at his friend’s house and a male subject came out and pushed him. The caller requested to speak with an officer. An officer spoke with all parties. There were conflicting stories. The caller was advised to stay away from the property until they could get the issues resolved.

 

Civil standby

An officer reported being out assisting a subject with a civil standby, Wednesday afternoon in the 600 block of East Second Street in Washington. The officer assisted the subject in retrieving his belongings. The subject was advised to move on, and he was also spoken to about being loud and using foul language in public while listening to his music.

 

Drug/narcotics violation

A deputy reported being out at a residence, Wednesday night in the 2700 block of 275th Street in Washington. An additional officer also responded and was disregarded. A consent search was conducted, and no items were located. Documentation was made.

 

Family offense nonviolent

A caller Wednesday morning in the 800 block of East Madison Street in Washington reported an issue with a male subject who kept coming to the house and taking his children. An officer responded and spoke with both parties involved. The male subject was advised to have no further contact with the caller’s son.

A caller Wednesday morning in the 300 block of West Monroe Street in Washington reported a possible violation of a no-contact order. An officer spoke with the caller. No violation had occurred.

A caller Wednesday morning in the 500 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported a possible violation of a no-contact order. The male subject cut off cellphone and Internet. An officer spoke with the caller and the county attorney. No violation had occurred.

 

Suspicious activity

A caller Wednesday evening in the 700 block of Fifth Street in Kalona reported receiving inappropriate text messages from an unknown number. An officer responded. The caller had blocked the number and did not open the scam link in the message. The information was documented.

 

Trespass

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 2300 block of 133rd Street in Kalona reported that someone was trespassing on her property, on the south side of the bridge. Their vehicle was parked on the north side. An officer spoke with the caller and was unable to locate any vehicles or subjects.

A caller Wednesday night in the 800 block of South Second Avenue in Washington reported that someone was at her residence who was not supposed to be there. An officer responded and spoke with the subject. He had been allowed there, and the officer advised that he could not force the subject to leave. The subject was advised of the complaint.

 

All other theft

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 300 block of West Van Buren Street in Washington reported that her mother had some items that belonged to her and she would not return them. The caller requested to speak with an officer. An officer spoke with all parties. The caller’s documents were back in Mexico. It was a civil issue.

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 400 block of B Avenue in Kalona reported the theft of a cellphone. The phone was returned before the deputy’s arrival. There was no problem.

 

All other offenses

A caller Wednesday morning in the 400 block of South Second Avenue in Washington reported her uncle was intoxicated and causing issues. He was throwing items in the house and yelling. Officers responded. Subjects were separated upon the officers’ arrival, and the male subject was going back to bed.
