Traffic other

A caller Monday morning at Riverside Road and Spruce Avenue in Riverside reported a school bus stop arm violation. A citation was issued to Keaton Michael Duwa, 18, of Riverside, for failure to stop at school bus stop arm.

 

Disabled vehicles

A deputy reported being out with a disabled vehicle, Monday evening at Redwood Avenue and 220th Street in Washington. The deputy advised that the occupants had help on the way and did not need any assistance.

 

Fire calls

A caller Monday noon in the 100 block of 14th Street in Kalona reported that a controlled burn was out of control on South 14th where it turned into Nutmeg Avenue. Kalona Fire Department responded. The fire was extinguished.

A caller Monday afternoon in the 2900 block of Ash Avenue in Keota requested Brighton Fire 1 ½ miles east of Ash Avenue at the dead end near the railroad bridge, to put out a fire that was started again from the previous evening. Brighton Fire responded and requested Richland Fire to assist for more manpower. The fire was extinguished.

A caller Monday evening at Palm Avenue and 220th Street in Washington requested Washington Fire Department to assist with a grass fire that had gotten out of control. Washington Fire and officers responded. The fire was extinguished.

A caller Monday night in the 3000 block of Birch Avenue in Brighton reported a fire along the railroad tracks. There were railroad ties on fire, and it was nearing a railroad bridge. Richland Fire Department responded. The fire was extinguished.

 

Animal complaint

A caller Monday night in the 1200 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington reported that the neighbor’s pitbull/boxer mix dog came onto his property. The owner had retrieved the dog. The caller requested that an officer advise them of the leash law. An officer spoke with the owner of the dog. He said the dog broke the tether and that was why it was loose. He apologized to the subject. Documentation was made.

A caller Monday night in the 800 block of South 12th Avenue in Washington reported a loose dog. An officer responded and located two dogs loose at a residence. The officer was able to get them back into their fence. A written warning was issued to the owner for allowing a dog to run at large.

 

Burglary

A caller Monday night in the 100 block of North 13th Avenue in Washington received a report from his neighbor that subjects were going through vehicles. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate the juveniles.

 

Hang-up 911 calls

A 911 call was received with no one speaking, Monday morning in the 2100 block of 133rd Street in Kalona. A return call was made and a message was left. An officer checked the area and was able to make contact with the caller, who was passing by in the area and did not have an emergency.

 

Sexual assault

A caller Monday night in the 100 block of East Washington Street in Brighton requested to speak to a deputy in reference to a possible sexual assault. An officer responded. A report will be filed. The information will be forwarded to the appropriate department.

 

Vandalism

A caller Monday morning in the 3200 block of Larch Avenue in Washington reported that someone damaged a steel 18-foot gate and trespassed on the caller’s property. There was red paint transfer. An officer was advised for documentation purposes. The caller took photographs.

 

Welfare check

A caller Monday night in the 2600 block of Wayland Road in Washington reported a young male carrying a large black garbage bag was crying and walking northbound near the Linn Hollow Mobile Home Park. The caller requested a welfare check on him. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate the child.

 

All other theft

A caller Monday afternoon in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington reported a theft. The incident is under investigation.

 

All other offenses

An officer Monday afternoon in the 1000 block of East Madison Street in Washington advised he was en route to a residence in reference to a dispute between two subjects. An officer responded. They planned to call back on Saturday for a final civil standby.
