Arrests

Pamela Sue McAllister, 33, of Fairfield, was arrested Wednesday night in the 1200 block of West Grimes in Fairfield on a Washington County warrant for two counts of possession of controlled substance, second offense.

Victor Vondale Olden, 28, of Washington, was arrested Wednesday night in the 1200 block of North Second Avenue in Washington on a charge of failure to appear for pretrial on assault causing bodily injury or mental illness.

Chance Alante Miller, 23, of Cedar Rapids, was arrested Thursday morning in the 500 block of First Street S.W. in Cedar Rapids on a Washington County warrant for failure to affix drug stamp, two counts of possession of controlled substance second offense, possession of controlled substance marijuana second offense, and unlawful possession of prescription drug.

 

Traffic other

A caller Wednesday morning in the 100 block of West 17th Street in Washington reported a company truck ran over his son’s dog and did not stop, at about 6:15 or 6:30 a.m. An officer spoke with the subject and planned to make contact with the business.

A vehicle with front-end damage was reported parked for a while, Wednesday morning in the 600 block of Palm Street in Riverside. It was a Ford Taurus. An officer responded and spoke with City Hall, and said that if the vehicle was not moved by Friday, he would have it towed.

An officer reported that he was out with a semi pulled over on the shoulder, Wednesday night at Lexington Boulevard and Highway 1 in Washington. There was no problem. The semi would be moving on.

 

Fire calls

A caller Wednesday morning in the 1400 block of 540th Street S.W. in Kalona requested Kalona Fire for a building fire alarm at the school, coming from zone fire/smoke in the computer lab room. Kalona Fire and QRS were paged and were disregarded due to there being no fire.

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 3100 block of 250th Street in Ainsworth reported a grass fire out of control. There were no structures nearby. Ainsworth Fire responded and extinguished the fire.

A caller Wednesday night in the 1100 block of Redwood Avenue in Brighton reported a car and a picnic table were on fire. Another car was about to catch fire, and a house was 50 yards away. Jefferson County units, a Washington County officer, and Brighton Fire responded. The fire was extinguished.

 

Animal complaint

A caller Wednesday morning in the 400 block of East Main Street in Washington reported an Akita dog chained up inside a fenced-in backyard. It was tangled up in a swing set and was crying. Officers responded and made contact with the owner. The dog had food and water and appeared physically fine. The owner was going to make sure the tie-out didn’t get wrapped around the slide again.

A caller Wednesday night in the 500 block of South Third Avenue in Washington reported a truck and trailer parked in the middle of the roadway and a male subject was trying to get an animal out of a tree. An officer responded. A raccoon had run out in front of the subject’s vehicle. The operator chased it with a rake and was trying to get it out of the tree. The raccoon remained in the tree. The operator moved on.

A caller Thursday morning at Ginkgo Avenue and 180th Street in Wellman reported a deer in the roadway. An officer responded and removed the deer from the roadway.

 

Disorderly conduct

A caller Wednesday evening in the 800 block of North Fourth Avenue in Washington reported that male juvenile subjects at the park were harassing her and her children. An officer responded. Two juveniles were charged with disorderly conduct. The officer transported one juvenile to his residence and released him to his parents.

 

DP & Q

A caller Wednesday night in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington reported a marijuana smell in the hallway at the back entrance area. Officers responded and were unable to locate the odor.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Wednesday morning in the 300 block of East Third Street in Washington reported her ex-boyfriend had been threatening her. An officer spoke with them both, and they were advised to have no further contact with each other.

A caller Wednesday night in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside reported that one of their employees was being harassed by her father. The father also called in, saying the daughter was harassing him. The daughter was advised of her options, and the father was advised to have no further contact with the daughter.

 

Liquor law violations

An officer reported being out with a student in possession of alcohol in a vehicle, Wednesday morning in the 1600 block of Highway 22 in Wellman. A citation was issued to Jason Michael Tew, 18, of Kalona, for possession of alcohol under legal age.

 

Tobacco violations

An officer reported being out with a student in possession of tobacco, in a vehicle, Wednesday morning in the 1600 block of Highway 22 in Wellman. The juvenile was issued a citation for possession of tobacco under the legal age, first offense.

Trespass

A caller Wednesday evening in the 1000 block of West Main Street in Washington reported subjects trespassing onto her pasture. An officer responded and spoke with the subjects, and advised that if they returned they would be charged with trespass.

 

All other theft

A caller Wednesday morning in the 1000 block of East Madison Street in Washington reported a theft. An officer spoke with the subject. Documentation was made.
