Bret James Tratchel, 41, of Riverside, was arrested Thursday evening in the 2700 block of Highway 22 in Riverside for a weapons violation and on a Cedar County warrant for violation of parole on an original charge of forgery and theft.


Warrant arrest

The clerk’s office in the 200 block of West Main Street in Washington reported Thursday afternoon a subject was in the office who was wanted on a Washington County warrant. Officers responded. The warrant was quashed while all parties were at the courthouse.



A counterfeit $5 bill was reported Thursday afternoon in the 100 block of East Main Street in Washington. Officers responded and retrieved the bill.


Stolen property

A subject was reported in the lobby of the police department and requesting to speak with an officer regarding locating stolen property at a residence in the 500 block of South Ninth Avenue in Washington.


All other thefts

A bike was reported stolen Thursday morning in the 600 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington. The caller later reported finding the bike.

A bicycle was reported stolen Thursday evening in the 300 block of East Madison Street in Washington.



A caller in the 2500 block of Sockum Ridge Road in Washington reported Thursday evening a subject was harassing him about owing money. The incident was documented.

A caller in the 300 block of West Jefferson Street in Washington reported Friday morning he and his family were being threatened via Facebook. Officers responded. The incident is under investigation.


Hang-up 911 call

A hang-up 911 call was reported Friday morning in the 200 block of North Fourth Avenue in Washington. Officers responded and spoke with the residence. No problem. Possible phone line issue.


Animal complaints

An officer reported Thursday morning being bitten by a dog on the left leg while inside a residence. The incident was documented. A dog bite form was filled out. The dog had up to date shots.

A caller in the 1200 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington reported Thursday morning that a husky dog was in her yard and had killed one of her ducks. The owner located the dog and will make restitution.

A caller in the 800 block of West Third Street in Washington reported Thursday morning locating a bat in her kitchen sink upon coming home from work. Officers responded and removed the bat.


All other offenses

Two juveniles with backpacks were reported walking northbound in the 600 block of North Fourth Avenue in Washington Thursday morning. Officers and school staff located the subjects. They were taken to school.

A subject was reported applying lawn chemicals at a neighbor’s residence in the 400 block of East Van Buren Street in Washington, which was in violation of agricultural laws regarding wind speeds of over 15 MPH. Officers contacted the caller and advised they were not going to make the other party cease applying lawn chemicals.
