Joshua Dean Hostetler, 20, of Des Moines, was arrested Thursday morning in the 1100 block of Highway 22 in Wellman for probation violation on a charge of operating without owner’s consent and trafficking stolen weapons.

Darnetta Lynette Godard, 29, of Washington, was arrested Thursday night in the 300 block of East Second Street in Washington for disorderly conduct. Artesha Celease Murphy, 22, of Washington, was arrested at the same time and location for three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct.


Traffic accidents

An excavator reportedly struck a vehicle at Highway 22 and Vine Avenue in Riverside Thursday afternoon. The vehicle was upside down and no one was getting out. Riverside Fire/Rescue, Riverside QRS, Washington County Ambulance, and officers responded. A state accident investigation will be held and the Iowa State Patrol will handle the report. The coroner was requested.

A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported Thursday evening in the 2900 block of Coppock Road in Washington. The incident was documented.

A loud crash was reported Friday morning in the 3300 block of 220th Street in Ainsworth. A vehicle had reportedly rolled in a field. Washington County Ambulance, officers, Ainsworth Fire, Ainsworth QRS, Washington County Rescue, Air Care, the Iowa State Patrol, and Louisa County officers responded. Two subjects were transported by ambulance. Air Care transported one subject to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.


Fire calls

The fire department was requested Thursday afternoon in the 500 block of Howard Street in Kalona for an out-of-control grass fire. Kalona Fire and officers responded. The fire was extinguished.

Ainsworth Fire Department was requested for a brush pile fire that had gotten out of hand in the 3100 block of 240th Street in Ainsworth and started an evergreen tree on fire. The fire was extinguished.

Kalona Fire was requested Thursday afternoon to assist Tiffin Fire in the 3200 block of Rohret Road in Iowa City for a grass fire. Kalona Fire Department responded.

A fire was reported Thursday evening in Brinton Timber in Brighton. Brighton Fire and officers responded. The fire was extinguished.


Physical child abuse

A possible case of physical child abuse was reported Thursday evening in the City of Washington. The incident is under investigation.


Drug/narcotics violations

A possible drug-related item was reported located at South B and West Washington Street in Washington Thursday afternoon. Officers responded and seized the item. The incident was documented.


All other thefts

An officer was requested Thursday afternoon in the 300 block of East main Street in Washington in reference to an ongoing problem of someone coming in to the caller’s apartment and stealing from her. Officers responded.

An officer was requested Thursday afternoon in the 1100 block of South B Avenue in Washington in reference to a possible theft from a student. The incident is under investigation.

Someone reportedly broke into a vehicle Thursday afternoon in the 500 block of West Madison Street in Washington and took the ignition interlock device. The incident is under investigation.

A caller reported Thursday afternoon that she was in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington and there was a subject wearing a hat that looked like one she was missing. The hat was described as rare. Officers spoke with the caller. Unfounded.



A caller in the 400 block of East Harrison Street in Washington reported Thursday afternoon she was receiving phone calls from a number that she didn’t recognize. Officers spoke with the caller and a subject whose number was supposedly calling.


Disorderly conduct

A lot of yelling and screaming and banging were reported Thursday night in the 200 block of East 15th Street in Washington. Officers responded. No fight was reported.


Animal complaints

A caller in the 700 block of 12th Avenue in Wellman reported Thursday morning that while walking the previous night a dog had come at her and her 4-month-old. Officers spoke with the dog owner.


All other offenses

A caller in the 1200 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported Thursday morning that a ruing belonging to her mother went missing within the past few months. The incident was documented.

An abandoned bicycle and basket was reported in the 400 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington Thursday afternoon. It was taken to the bike shed.

A scooter was reported sitting in the 100 block of East Main Street in Washington Thursday afternoon and it had been there for a couple of days. Officers responded. The scooter was taken to the bike shed.


Family offense non violent

A caller in the 400 block of Ella Street in Riverside reported Thursday morning that her mother and father had been in an argument the previous evening and the mother left the residence. On Thursday morning the father called and said he was throwing all of the caller’s items outside the apartment. Officers responded and were unable to get anyone to answer the door. There were items placed outside and the caller was advised.


Suspicious activity

The door of a residence in the 1000 block of South 12th Avenue in Washington was reported open Thursday afternoon. Officers responded. Everything was fine. The incident was documented.
