Arrests

Tamra Sue Cook, 54, of Iowa City was arrested Thursday afternoon in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington on a DCI warrant out of Washington County for gambling – false claim of winnings.

Everett Lavern Blakey, 49, of Cedar Rapids was arrested Thursday afternoon in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington on a Louisa County warrant for probation violation on third-degree burglary.

Traffic accident

A caller Thursday night in the 500 block of South Second Avenue in Washington reported his daughter backed into a parked Ford Fusion with her gray Ford Focus. There were no injuries. An officer responded and assisted with information exchange. No state report was filed. Damages were under $1,500. The operator of the Ford Focus was a juvenile female.

Disabled vehicles

A caller Thursday morning at Spruce Avenue and Highway 92 in Washington reported a disabled vehicle in the ditch. The vehicle was tagged and added to the system.

Fire calls

A caller Thursday night in the 3000 block of Birch Avenue in Brighton reported a ditch on fire south of Rubio. Keokuk County paged out Richland Fire Department and then disregarded them. It was a controlled burn.

Animal complaint

A caller Thursday morning in the 600 block of East Van Buren Street in Washington reported a bat in the house. An officer responded and assisted the subject.

A caller Thursday night in the 1200 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported she had a bat in her room. An officer responded and took care of the bat.

A caller Thursday night in the 100 block of West Washington Street in Washington reported a bat in her apartment. An officer responded and assisted with getting the bat out of the apartment.

Assault

A caller Thursday night in the 1400 block of Fir Avenue in Wellman reported he was assaulted by his girlfriend’s uncle. He did have injuries and initially refused medical attention. Officers, Wellman QRS and an ambulance responded. Wellman QRS disregarded the ambulance. There were no charges, and the parties were separated for the night.

DP & Q

A caller Thursday night in the 500 block of East Madison Street in Brighton reported subjects were playing loud music. An officer was advised. The caller called in and advised that they turned down the music.

Drug/narcotics violation

A caller Thursday night in the 200 block of North Second Avenue in Washington reported a strong odor of marijuana. Officers responded and checked the area and were unable to locate the odor.

Fraud

A caller Thursday morning in the 800 block of South Second Avenue in Washington reported someone diverted his mail to an address in Georgia. An officer spoke with the caller. A report will be filed.

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 300 block of South Ninth Avenue in Washington reported that his fiancée was being harassed by a subject via text message, and requested to speak with an officer. An officer attempted to make contact with the caller. The information was documented.

Suspicious activity

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 300 block of East Jackson Street in Washington reported suspicious activity earlier. An officer responded. Documentation was made.

All other theft

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington reported a possible theft that occurred on Aug. 24, 2017, and requested an officer. An officer spoke with the caller. A report will be filed.

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 700 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported two stolen bicycles that were chained together – a blue and white Redline Raid 20-inch boys’ BMX bike with no rims or chain, and a blue with red sparkles Hyper 20-inch boys ’ BMX bike. An officer responded. The caller’s son had already located them and retrieved them. The suspect was not home.

All other offenses

A caller Thursday morning in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington reported a dumpster was on top of his truck. The accident occurred on private property. Information was exchanged. A towing service and personnel from an implement company responded to remove the dumpster from the truck.

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 800 block of South Avenue D in Washington reported an ongoing problem with trash thrown in his yard, and kids in his yard from a nearby apartment. An officer responded for documentation purposes. The officer left a message for the manager of the apartment property to contact him.

An officer reported being out with a vehicle, Friday morning in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside. He advised the subject that he needed to leave the parking lot, as he had been asked to leave the business location.
