Arrests

Clayton Dale Miller, 34, of Kalona was arrested Tuesday morning in the 2100 block of 560th Street in Kalona on charges of third-degree criminal mischief and trespass – injury or damage greater than $200.

Hope LeAnn Stark, 18, of Wellman was arrested Tuesday evening in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington on charges of possession of controlled substance – marijuana, first offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Traffic accident

A caller Tuesday morning in the 1200 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported someone hit her vehicle in the parking lot yesterday. Information was exchanged. The accident was documented for insurance.

A caller Tuesday afternoon at South Marion Avenue and West Washington Street in Washington reported a two-vehicle accident with no injuries. The roadway was not blocked. One vehicle was a 2002 Buick LeSabre. A state report will be filed. A male juvenile was cited for failure to stop at a safe assured distance.

A caller Tuesday afternoon at Highway 218 and the Highway 22 ramp in Riverside reported a traffic accident with no injuries, blocking traffic. An officer and Iowa State Patrol responded. Damage was over $1,500. A state accident report will be filed. Stephen Craig Andersen of Cedar Rapids was cited for failure to yield upon entering a through highway. The subject arranged for his own tow.

A caller Tuesday evening in the 3000 block of Highway 22 in Riverside reported a traffic accident with no injuries, and the vehicles were not blocking traffic. An officer and Iowa State Patrol responded. State Patrol handled the accident.

Traffic other

A caller Tuesday morning in the 200 block of Schnoebelen Street in Riverside reported a vehicle parked in a no-parking zone. An officer left a note for the owner to call in.

Barking dog

A caller Tuesday night in the 500 block of South Avenue B in Washington reported a barking dog. An officer responded and located a dog, but it was not barking at that time, and the owners took it inside for the night.

Burglary

A caller Tuesday evening in the 700 block of East Second Street in Washington reported two juveniles broke into her residence earlier in the afternoon. It was unknown whether anything was missing. An officer responded and spoke with one juvenile suspect and his parents. The caller did not wish to press charges, but the juvenile was advised that if he returned to the caller’s property he could be charged with trespass. The information will be forwarded to Juvenile Probation.

A caller Tuesday night in the 700 block of Seventh Avenue in Wellman reported several items were missing from the residence. An officer responded. A report will be filed.

Disorderly conduct

A caller Tuesday night at South Avenue C and West Washington Street in Washington reported a possible domestic dispute in the area of an apartment house. Officers responded. The incident was verbal only. The subjects were advised to move on.

Family offense non-violent

A caller Tuesday afternoon in the 1000 block of North Fifth Avenue in Washington reported a domestic altercation at the residence. A male subject left in a red truck. An officer responded and spoke with the caller, who advised that the male subject was armed with a shotgun. An officer located the vehicle, and a pursuit ensued on 230th Street. Numerous units responded to assist in attempting to locate. An officer advised all units to disregard, as they were unable to locate the subject in the area. The vehicle was towed and entered as towed. A report will be filed.

Sex offender

An officer reported a new sex offender registry, Tuesday night in the 900 block of East Washington Street in Washington.

All other theft

A caller Tuesday morning in the 2900 block of 135th Street in Riverside reported she was missing six or seven large land landscaping blocks that were 3 feet tall and 3 feet wide. They also took her grapes from the backyard. An officer spoke with the caller. The information was documented.

A caller Tuesday night in the 200 block of F Place in Kalona reported a theft. An officer responded. The information was documented for the time being.

All other offenses

A caller Tuesday night in the 600 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported three juveniles throwing rocks at vehicles passing by. An officer responded and checked the area and was unable to locate the juveniles.

A caller Tuesday night in the 900 block of West Main Street in Washington reported that someone tried to hit them with a vehicle, a 2000 blue Cavalier. An officer responded. The victim did not want to press charges. The officer was going to speak to the other parties involved.
