Laura Nichole Pierson, 39, of Pekin, Illinois, was arrested Wednesday evening in the 100 block of South Capitol Street in Pekin, Illinois, on three Washington County warrants: the first, for failure to appear for arraignment on possession of controlled substance – methamphetamine, first offense, and possession of controlled substance, first offense; the second warrant, for failure to appear for arraignment on animal neglect death or serious injury; the third warrant, for failure to appear for sentencing on violation of no-contact protective order.

Cameron Jacob Davis, 19, of Mount Pleasant, was arrested Thursday morning in the 3100 block of Highway 92 in Ainsworth on charges of disorderly conduct, unlawful possession of prescription medication, and possession of contraband in a correctional facility. Isaac William Puaina, 20, of Iowa City, was arrested at the same time and location on a charge of disorderly conduct. Both subjects have pending charges for possession of controlled substance per DCI lab results.

Traffic accident

A caller Wednesday afternoon at Hemlock Avenue and 140th Street in Wellman reported a truck in the ditch. Subjects were trying to pull the vehicle out but were unable to do so. An officer responded. A towing company responded and towed the vehicle, which was entered as towed and which was not to be released until the officer could speak with the owner.

Traffic other

A juvenile subject was issued a citation for unlawful passing of a school bus, Wednesday. The stop arm violation had occurred on Dec. 22 at North Second Avenue and East Main Street in Washington. A court date was given for 9 a.m. on Jan. 25.

A caller Wednesday night at Golf View Lane and Wayland Road in Washington reported a female subject walking into Washington on Wayland Road, not dressed for the weather. Her car was possibly at Golf View Lane and Wayland Road, partially on the roadway. Officers were unable to locate the driver. The vehicle was towed, to be released upon payment of the tow bill. The owner called in and was advised where her vehicle was.

Disabled vehicles

An officer reported a disabled vehicle, Wednesday afternoon in the 1300 block of Highway 92 in Keota. It was added into the system.

An officer reported being out with a semi with flashers on, Thursday morning at Highway 218 and 175th Street in Riverside. The officer advised that the occupants had

a flat tire and would be on their way shortly.

Disorderly conduct

An officer advised that he was in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside, early Thursday morning, and subjects were told to stay in their hotel room for the night.

Animal complaint

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the emergency room in Washington County Hospital reported a dog bite that occurred in the city of Washington. A report will be filed.

A deputy reported being out Wednesday night at a residence in the 300 block of East Madison Street in Brighton, to issue a citation from a loose dog incident that occurred on Dec. 25. Hellen Pauley, 25, of Brighton, was issued a citation for allowing a dog to run at large.


A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 300 block of First Street in Kalona reported a shed broken into and items stolen. The information was documented.

Civil dispute

A caller Wednesday morning reported from the lobby of the police department in Washington that he went back to retrieve property from a residence he had been living in, and things were missing. He was advised that this was a civil issue.


A caller Wednesday night in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside reported that a subject kept calling her from Hills, and requested that a deputy ask him to stop calling. An officer left a message for the subject to call in.

Welfare check

A caller Wednesday night in the 1900 block of Highway 92 in Washington requested a welfare check on animals at a residence. An officer responded and was unable to locate the animals outside. No one came to the door at the residence. A day officer would check back on Thursday morning to attempt to make contact with the animal owner.

All other offenses

A caller Wednesday morning in the 800 block of Fifth Street in Kalona reported damage to his mailbox. An officer advised documentation. A vehicle had left the roadway and struck the caller’s mailbox and a neighboring address also. The officer planned to check the area for damaged vehicles.

A caller Wednesday morning in the 400 block of West Adams Street in Washington reported that it appeared as if someone had slid into the cobblestone post going into the cemetery. An officer responded. Photos were taken. The information was documented.
