Amanda Marie Knerr, 36, of Washington, was arrested Wednesday morning in the 800 block of South Second Avenue in Washington on a charge of probation violation. Samantha Leigh Pool Schaapveld, 23, of West Branch, was arrested at the same time and location on a Johnson County warrant for failure to appear for probation revocation on an original charge of OWI, first offense. Further charges are pending.


Disabled vehicles

An officer reported being out with a disabled vehicle along the roadway, Tuesday afternoon at Elm Avenue and Highway 92 in Keota. The owner of the vehicle planned to be back and remove the vehicle in the next 30 minutes.


Fire calls

A caller Wednesday morning in the 1000 block of Violet Avenue in Brighton requested assistance in Jefferson County for a small fire in a house. Brighton Fire Department responded. The homeowner was able to extinguish the fire before they arrived.



A caller Tuesday evening in the 100 block of West 17th Street in Washington reported that his son was assaulted on the school bus that afternoon. An officer responded. Documentation was made. The school would be made aware of the altercation.

A caller Tuesday night in the 1600 block of North Fifth Avenue in Washington reported he was assaulted. An ambulance responded. There was no transport. Officers responded, and the parties were separated.


Civil standby

A caller Tuesday afternoon in the 1600 block of North Fifth Avenue in Washington requested a civil standby, since his girlfriend came back with her key after three days and he didn’t want her there anymore. An officer responded and spoke with the subjects.


Disorderly conduct

A caller Tuesday afternoon in the 700 block of East Second Street in Washington reported that her son was threatening to hit her with a rolling pin. Officers responded. The subject calmed down.



A caller Tuesday night in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington reported he sold a phone to a male subject who gave him fake $100 bills. An officer spoke with the caller. The incident was documented, and the bills were confiscated.


Suspicious activity

A caller Tuesday morning in the 100 block of South Marion Avenue in Washington reported suspicious activity. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate a problem.
