Arrests

George Randall Carey, 42, of Brighton, was arrested Thursday afternoon in the 200 block of East Main Street in Brighton on a Washington County warrant for possession of controlled substance – methamphetamine, first offense. Further charges are pending.

Samantha Nicole Wheeler, 29, was arrested Friday morning in the 12000 block of County Road G56 in Wapello on a Washington County warrant for failure to appear for mittimus.

 

Traffic other

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 1600 block of Highway 22 in Wellman reported a stop-arm violation that occurred the previous day. An officer responded. The incident is under investigation.

A caller Thursday evening in the 500 block of North Avenue C in Washington reported that a four-wheeler was pulling a child on a sled behind the caller’s residence. They were heading south through the alley. An officer spoke with the driver of the four-wheeler, who was advised to park it.

An officer reported being out with a vehicle, Friday morning at 320th Street and Redwood Avenue in Wayland. Everything was fine. The subject was dropping something off at a building.

 

Disabled vehicles

A deputy reported being out with a vehicle with its hazard lights on, Thursday night at Highway 1 and 170th Street in Washington. The officer advised that the subject was cleaning snow off his vehicle.

A deputy reported being out with a disabled vehicle, Thursday night at 250th Street and Elm Avenue in Keota. The deputy advised that the vehicle was not occupied and was added to the system.

 

Animal complaint

A caller Thursday night in the 1200 block of Riverside Road in Riverside reported there was an injured deer near the Riverside VFW, and requested a deputy. The deer was disposed of.

 

Disorderly conduct

Dispatch received a call of a domestic situation, Thursday night in the 300 block of First Street in Mount Pleasant. Deputies were requested, as the subjects were yelling at each other. Officers responded. Both subjects were intoxicated. They agreed to separate for the night. The incident was verbal only.

 

Drug/narcotics violation

An officer reported, Thursday afternoon in the 200 block of East Washington Street in Washington, that charges will be filed on a subject for possession of controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, after receiving DCI lab results back. A report will be filed.

 

Stolen property

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 3300 block of 190th Street in Columbus Junction reported a motor home missing from a residence. A neighbor saw it go by behind a tow truck last Tuesday. An officer spoke with the caller. The incident is under investigation.

 

Welfare check

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 1600 block of North Fifth Avenue in Washington reported a welfare check. The caller heard a male yelling for help on the first floor. An officer responded and located the subject, who had fallen and needed help getting up.
