Arrests

Brian Douglas Read, 48, of Cedar Rapids, was arrested Friday morning in the 500 block of First Street S.W. in Cedar Rapids on a Washington County warrant for failure to appear for mittimus on driving while barred as a habitual offender.

Yolanda Lopez-DeLuna, 39, of Cedar Rapids, was arrested Friday night in the 3000 block of Highway 22 in Riverside on a charge of OWI, first offense.

Tavoris Isaac Williams, 30, of Burlington, was arrested Saturday morning in the 3000 block of Highway 22 in Riverside on charges of OWI, first offense, and failure to have valid license, and Iowa City Police Department warrants for domestic abuse impeding blood/air and domestic abuse assault causing injury first offense, domestic abuse with intent serious injury, app. to revoke pretrial release, and violation of no-contact order. Further charges are pending. Sadie Jane Fah, 22, of Iowa City, was arrested at the same time and location on a charge of violation of a no-contact order.

Daniel Michael Thomas, 28, of Kalona, was arrested Saturday night in the 400 block of B Avenue in Kalona on charges of driving while barred and no proof of insurance.

Scott Michael Hoewing, 51, of Canton, Missouri, was arrested Sunday morning in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside on charges of public intoxication and interference with official acts.

 

Traffic accidents

A caller Saturday afternoon in the 1300 block of Highway 1 in Kalona reported she slid in the roadway and into the ditch. The vehicle was a maroon Bravada. The caller said she would have the vehicle removed on Monday.

A caller Saturday afternoon in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside reported that someone backed into their vehicle in a parking lot. An officer responded. The accident occurred on private property. Information was exchanged. Both parties took their own photos. Documentation was made for insurance purposes.

An officer reported being out with a possible traffic accident, Sunday night in the 2200 block of Riverside Road in Washington. A subject was just picking up clothing that was thrown out along the road. She planned to be taking them to Goodwill.

 

Traffic other

An officer reported being at a vehicle stop Sunday afternoon in the 500 block of West Madison Street in Washington, in reference to a driving complaint of a white S-10 swerving all over the roadway, driving in the wrong lane and running a stop sign. The officer counseled the driver.

 

Disabled vehicles

A disabled vehicle was reported Saturday night at Highway 1 and 130th Street in Kalona. The operator had help coming.

An officer reported being out with a broken-down Jeep with a trailer, Sunday morning at Vine Avenue and Highway 22 in Riverside. The officer stood by for traffic control. Both the Jeep and the trailer were removed. The Jeep was parked at a business location and would be moved by Monday.

 

Fire calls

A caller Friday afternoon in the 200 block of Main Street in Columbus Junction reported needing Washington Fire Department for a road cave-in on Main Street, and needed trench rescue. Washington Fire assisted Louisa County.

A caller Friday evening in the 400 block of East Washington Street in Iowa City requested an engine from Riverside to man an Iowa City station. Riverside Fire responded and assisted.

 

Burglary

A caller Sunday afternoon in the 600 block of Third Street in Wellman reported a subject was in her apartment and took items. An officer responded. An incident report will be filed.

 

Civil dispute

A caller Friday night in the 600 block of East Second Street in Washington requested to speak to an officer after being removed from a residence where he had been living. Officers responded. The subjects worked things out for the night. An officer responded back to the residence later in the night for another disagreement between the two parties.

 

Civil standby

A caller Sunday afternoon in the 400 block of Seventh Street in Kalona reported she had been living at a residence for a few months. She had an agreement with the owner of the house that her things would be out by midnight that night. The house was locked, and the owner wouldn’t let her in to get her belongings. The caller requested a civil standby. The officer responded. There was no problem.

 

Disorderly conduct

A caller Saturday night in the 600 block of West Tyler Street in Washington reported having a dispute with her sister, and she wanted her to leave. Officers responded. The incident was verbal only. The parties separated.

 

Hang-up 911 calls

Dispatch received an open-line 911 call with a verbal domestic dispute over money, Saturday morning in the 800 block of South Second Avenue in Washington. An officer responded. The parties were separated.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Sunday morning in the 400 block of C Avenue in Kalona reported harassment through Facebook messages. An officer spoke with the caller, who advised that a party who lived out of state was threatening her through a third party. The caller was advised to call 911 if a third party showed up.

A caller Sunday night in the 300 block of South Farmer Street in Brighton reported that his girlfriend’s mother had made threats toward him the previous night, and requested to speak with a deputy. An officer spoke with the caller. The information was documented.

 

Search warrant

An officer reported executing a search warrant, Saturday afternoon in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington. An additional officer executed the search warrant. A report will be filed. Charges are pending on two subjects per DCI lab results.

 

Sexual child abuse

A caller Friday afternoon in the 200 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported a sexual child abuse case. The incident is under investigation.

 

Suspicious activity

A caller Friday morning in the 900 block of South Third Avenue in Washington reported there were footprints up to her bedroom window. This was the second time this had occurred. The caller requested to speak with an officer. The footprints were those of the meter reader for the city. There was no problem.

A caller Saturday night in the 2800 block of Yucca Avenue in Crawfordsville reported there was a possible under-age party at a residence next to some hog buildings. An officer spoke with subjects at the residence. No under-age drinking was observed.

 

Trespass

A caller Saturday afternoon in the 300 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported that five or six youngsters went into a house at South Avenue C and West Madison, entering on the side of South Avenue C. The caller did not believe they were supposed to be there. An officer spoke with all of the juveniles and their parents. Five juveniles will be charged with criminal trespass. A report will be filed.

A caller Monday morning in the 800 block of South Second Avenue in Washington reported a subject trying to get into the residence, who was not welcome there. Officers responded. The residence was checked. The officers were unable to locate the subject.

 

Vandalism

A caller Saturday morning in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona reported that a trailer had had the water shut off, and a caller believed that on Friday night someone turned the water on. An officer responded. Documentation only was made. It appeared to be weather-related and not vandalism.

 

Welfare check

A caller Saturday night at West Main Street and South Avenue B in Washington reported a subject came to the residence and was incoherent. The caller was unsure if the subject was intoxicated or what the problem was. The caller did not know the address, and was no longer there. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate anyone. An ambulance was on standby and was disregarded.

 

All other theft

A caller Friday afternoon in the 1000 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported a gas drive-off of $98.25.  The vehicle was possibly a red truck from an unknown state. An officer was advised for documentation.

A caller Sunday morning in the 1000 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported a gas drive-off. The vehicle was a blue truck with gray tarp covering the license plate, and went southbound down the alley. It left without paying for $10.23 in gas. The information was documented.

 

All other offenses

A caller Friday afternoon in the 200 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported three boys fighting under a business sign. The fight was physical and they were throwing things. An officer located the juveniles and spoke to them. The juveniles were just messing around. All was fine. Documentation was made.

 

 

A caller Friday night in the 1000 block of West Fifth Street in Washington reported that a male subject who lived with her made threats to her. An officer spoke with the caller and advised her she would have to go through the eviction process. The information was documented.

An officer reported interviewing a subject who failed to show for a mittimus, Saturday night in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington. A report will be filed.

A caller Sunday morning in the 1000 block of Sixth Street in Wellman reported that a door handle had been vandalized and because of that the key would not work. No en try was made. An officer was advised for documentation purposes.
