Traffic accident

A caller Monday night in the 1400 block of Riverside Road in Riverside reported she hit a deer. The deer was still alive. The vehicle was a GMC Acadia. The driver was given a state accident report to file. The vehicle was drivable. Upon the officer’s arrival, the deer was deceased.


Traffic other

A caller Monday evening in the 1100 block of Paradise Lane in Kalona reported their neighbor drove through their yard. An officer responded. The caller requested documentation.


Disabled vehicles

A caller Tuesday morning at Highway 218 and 565th Street S.W. in Riverside reported there were two vehicles pulled over approximately 2 miles north of Exit 80 on Highway 218 on the northbound side. A male was getting out of one of the vehicles. A Washington County officer, a Johnson County officer and an Iowa State Patrol officer responded. The Washington County officer assisted Johnson County.


Fire calls

A caller Monday morning in the 1300 block of Redwood Avenue in Brighton reported a fire alarm, a second-floor smoke detector. Brighton Fire Department responded. The smoke was from a stove. There was no problem at the residence.


Animal complaint

A caller Monday afternoon in the 3000 block of River Crossing Court in Riverside reported a deer hit and injured on the south-side shoulder. An officer responded. The deer was located in a field about 100 yards from the site, and was dispatched.

A caller Monday night in the 100 block of East 11th Street in Washington reported a bat in their apartment. An officer responded and removed the bat.



A caller Monday evening in the 600 block of West Adams Street in Washington reported she was scammed out of $225 over the Internet. An officer spoke with the caller. The information was documented.


Welfare check

A caller Monday night in the 100 block of West Main Street in Washington reported she could not get hold of her mother, and requested a welfare check. An officer made contact with the mother, and she planned to give her daughter a call.


All other offenses

A caller Monday morning in the 200 block of Fifth Street in Wellman reported her daughter called her, crying, and yelling at someone to leave her residence. The caller did not know who was there. A 911 call from the residence came in from a male subject, stating that for two hours the female subject would not give him his keys to his vehicle after he gave her a ride home. An officer responded. The female subject had thrown the keys. The keys were located, and the male subject left the residence.
