Traffic accidents

An accident was reported Wednesday morning at Willow Avenue and 185th Street in Ainsworth. A vehicle had slid into a ditch and struck a pole. Alliant was contacted.


Traffic other

A pickup was reported stuck Wednesday evening in the 900 block of West Main Street in Washington. The vehicle later left on West Main. Officers located the vehicle and counseled the driver.


Fire calls

A member of the Washington Fire Department reported Wednesday morning being in the 100 block of East 15th Street in Washington for a carbon monoxide detector reading. Alliant responded.



A caller in the 1700 block of 335th Street in Brighton reported Wednesday morning someone used his personal information to apply for a job at a job placement service and also applied for a credit application. Officers advised the caller of his options. The incident was documented.


All other thefts

A vehicle registration card and an insurance card were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 700 block of North Second Avenue in Washington. The incident was documented.

A caller in the 700 block East Second Street in Washington reported Wednesday evening that someone kept getting into her truck that was parked in her garage. She leaves the garage door open and the truck is unlocked. Someone had entered her vehicle four or five times. The incident was documented.


Animal complaints

A caller in the 3100 block of 320th Street in Crawfordsville reported Wednesday morning that she took in a stray cat and it bit her and her daughter. Officers spoke with the caller. Environmental health will handle the situation.


All other offenses

A new sex offender registrant was reported Wednesday morning in the 1000 block of Second Street in Wellman.


Suspicious activity

A suspicious vehicle was reported parked in the 100 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington Wednesday morning. Officers responded. No problem.

A caller in the 2400 block of Sockum Ridge Road in Washington reported Wednesday afternoon that his wife put her vehicle in a ditch and when he went to check on it, there were two subjects standing next to the vehicle. The subjects left when he questioned what they were doing. The incident was documented.

A subject was reported Wednesday evening in the 500 block of Third Street in Wellman carrying a suspicious item. Officers were unable to locate.
