Michael John Unternahrer, 23, of Washington, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in the 200 block of West Madison Street in Washington for violating a protective order.

Hailey Irene Scott, 20, of Washington, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in the 1100 block of East Taylor Street in Washington on a warrant for contempt – failure/refusal to pay fine.


Charges filed

Charges were filed Nov. 9, 2013 on Dacota Jackson Miller, 13, of Washington, for fifth-degree theft.


Search warrant

A search warrant was executed Tuesday morning at a residence in the 400 block of Hickory Street in Kalona with the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship.


Traffic accidents

A truck reportedly rolled into another vehicle Tuesday evening in the 500 block of Highway 1 in Washington. The truck reportedly rolled out of gear. Information was exchanged.

A vehicle was reported in a ditch Tuesday night in the 3300 block of Highway 92 in Ainsworth. Officers responded. The vehicle was unoccupied.


Fire calls

A power line was reported down Tuesday night at Black Hawk and 500th Street in Wellman. Wellman Fire Department responded.



A caller in the 1200 block of Jefferson/Washington Road in Brighton reported Tuesday afternoon his paycheck was taken and cashed. Officers spoke with the caller. The information will be forwarded to the postal inspector.



A caller in the 300 block of South Farmer Street in Brighton reported Tuesday afternoon that a subject had obtained her bank account number. She had checked her account and no money had been withdrawn. The incident was documented.



Damage to a fence was reported Tuesday afternoon in the 300 block of West Second Street in Washington. The incident was documented.


Animal complaint

A welfare check was requested Tuesday afternoon on a horse in the 2200 block of 250th Street in Washington that seemed to have severe weight loss. Officers responded. It was a civil issue.

Two bats were reported in a residence in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington Tuesday evening. Officers responded and assisted in removing one of the bats.


Welfare check

A welfare check was requested Tuesday morning on a child the caller hadn’t seen in four years in the 2800 block of Highway 1 in Washington. The caller’s attorney advised him to request it before their court hearing. Officers responded. The child was fine.


Suspicious activity

A caller in the 2600 block of Wayland Road in Washington reported hearing screaming Tuesday night. Officers responded. Unfounded.
