Arrests

Tracy Lee Milford, 41, of Washington, was arrested Monday afternoon in the 1500 block of East Washington Street in Washington on a charge of controlled substance violation.

Amy Marie Kramer, 37, of Ainsworth, was arrested Monday night in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington on a charge of fifth-degree theft.

 

Traffic accident

A caller Monday morning in the 2100 block of Highway 1 in Washington reported that a piece of metal blew off an oncoming straight truck and went through the passenger side windshield. There were no injuries, but there was shattered glass everywhere. There were also another piece of metal and a box in the roadway that had fallen off. An officer responded and was unable to locate the straight truck. An LED light fixture was the object that went through the window. Documentation was made.

A caller Monday afternoon at 220th Street and Highway 218 in Ainsworth reported a car in the ditch on G36 near Highway 218. It was an SUV with someone inside. There was no damage to the vehicle. The operator had family coming to pick her up. She planned to leave the vehicle there.

A caller Monday afternoon in the 2000 block of Highway 218 in Ainsworth reported a red truck drove into the ditch. It looked as if there were two occupants inside the truck. An officer responded but was diverted to a multiple-vehicle accident.

A traffic accident was reported Monday afternoon in the 2700 block of Highway 22 in Riverside. Two or three vehicles were involved, and unknown injuries. Damage was over $1,500. A state accident report will be filed. There were no injuries, and an ambulance was disregarded. Both vehicles were towed.

A caller Monday afternoon at Vine Avenue and Highway 218 in Ainsworth reported a truck rear-ended an Iowa DOT truck. There were no injuries. Damage amounted to more than $1,500. A state report was filed. There were no citations.

A caller Monday afternoon in the 1700 block of Highway 22 in Wellman reported a red Chevrolet Equinox in the ditch east of the Mid-Prairie High School. An officer responded and assisted a towing company in removing the vehicle. There was no damage to the vehicle.

A caller Monday afternoon at Highway 1 and 190th Street in Washington reported that someone rear-ended her on Highway 1. There were no injuries. An officer responded. A citation will be issued to a juvenile operator at a later date. A state report will be filed.

A caller Monday afternoon at Highway 22 and Palm Avenue in Kalona reported being involved in an accident, with no injuries. A state accident report will be filed. There were no charges.

A caller Monday afternoon in the 3200 block of Highway 22 in Riverside reported hitting a bridge on Highway 22.  There were no injuries. The vehicle was a black Nissan Altima. The subject left the area and notified his insurance company. Damage was very minor. The accident was documented.

A caller Monday afternoon at Highway 218 and the Highway 92 ramp in Ainsworth reported a two-vehicle accident in the southbound lanes of Highway 218 north of Ainsworth. A blue Dodge truck was hit by a gray four-door car. There were no injuries. An Iowa State Patrol officer will handle any accident report needed.

An officer reported being out with a semi blocking both lanes of traffic, Monday afternoon in the 3100 block of Highway 92 in Ainsworth. The officer advised that the semi was able to get moving and there did not appear to be any vehicle accident.

A caller Monday evening at 140th Street and Vine Avenue in Riverside reported several vehicles were stuck and were blocking the area. Officers responded. Vehicles were removed from the roadway, and a few in the area were tagged.

An officer reported being out with a vehicle in the ditch, Monday evening at 220th Street and Quince Avenue in Washington. The vehicle was not occupied and was added to the system.

A deputy reported being out with a red Chevrolet Cobalt in the ditch, Monday evening in the 2800 block of 220th Street in Ainsworth. The officer advised it was not occupied, and added the vehicle to the system.

A caller Monday night in the 200 block of Eighth Avenue in Wellman reported hitting a parked car with a snow plow. An officer responded. Damage to the taillight amounted to less than $1,500. The officer attempted to make contact with the owner, but she was not home.

An officer reported being out with an occupied vehicle in the ditch, Monday night in the 2500 block of Highway 1 in Washington. There were no injuries. Additional officers stood by for traffic control. A tow truck pulled the vehicle out of the ditch.

A caller Monday night in the 2700 block of Highway 1 in Washington reported his vehicle had slid into the ditch. There no injuries. An officer and a towing company responded. The vehicle was removed from the ditch.

An officer reported being involved in a traffic accident, Monday night at Highway 1 and 200th Street in Washington. An additional officer responded. Iowa State Patrol will be handling the accident. The vehicle was towed.

 

Traffic other

A caller Tuesday morning at Highway 218 and the Highway 218 ramp in Ainsworth reported a semi had traffic blocked on the southbound ramp. There was no accident. The trailer just slid sideways and was blocking the roadway. An officer and the Ainsworth fire chief responded. Upon their arrival, the operator had a tow en route from Mount Pleasant. The semi was removed from the roadway.

 

Disabled vehicles

An officer reported checking on a vehicle pulled onto the shoulder, Monday afternoon in the 2500 block of 220th Street in Washington. No one was around. County Roads would probably want it moved. It was added to the system.

A caller Monday afternoon in the 2100 block of Highway 218 in Ainsworth reported a red truck had been parked along the roadway for the past two hours. An officer responded and checked on the occupants. They had a tow en route. The officer assisted with traffic control.

A disabled vehicle was reported, Monday afternoon at 135th Street and Riverside Road in Riverside. The occupants were going to try to get a towing company to tow it.

An unoccupied disabled vehicle was reported Monday afternoon at Parkside Estates Road and West Madison Street in Washington. It was off the travel portion.

A deputy reported being out with a vehicle, Monday evening in the 2700 block of Highway 92 in Washington. The deputy advised that the vehicle was not occupied and was added to the system.

A deputy reported being out with a disabled vehicle, Monday evening at Quince Avenue and 220th Street in Washington. The deputy added the vehicle to the system.

 

Assault

A caller Monday night in the 300 block of West Street in West Chester reported a 16-year-old female was out of control and assaulted the adults in the residence. Officers responded. An officer will forward the case on to the county attorney. A report will be filed.

 

Disorderly conduct

A caller Monday night in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona reported a juvenile was out of control and assaulted her mother. An officer responded and disregarded an ambulance and Kalona QRS. Parties were separated.

 

Family offense nonviolent

A caller Monday afternoon in the 1100 block of Highway 92 in Keota requested an officer for a home visit. The subject refused to answer the door.

 

Hang-up 911 calls

Dispatch received a hang-up 911 call, Monday afternoon in the 1300 block of Tulip Avenue in Riverside. The call was locating near a residence. An officer responded. The subject was not aware he had called. There was no problem.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Monday afternoon in the 300 block of East Madison Street in Brighton reported being harassed by his girlfriend’s mother. An officer spoke with the caller. Both parties were advised to leave each other alone.

 

Runaways/missing person

A caller Tuesday morning in the 100 block of Green Meadows Drive in Washington reported a missing 39-year-old male, last seen about 6 p.m. Monday on the square. The subject had no vehicle and no cellphone. He was wearing coveralls, a green coat, a camouflage hat and glasses. An officer located the subject walking on the square and transported him back to his residence.

 

Suspicious activity

An officer reported being out with a vehicle with the door open, Tuesday morning in the 200 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington. The officer made contact with the owner, who had forgotten to shut the door.

 

Welfare check

A caller Monday night in the 2300 block of Kiwi Avenue in Washington requested a welfare check on a subject she had not heard from since Jan. 5. An officer responded to the residence, and no one was home. He planned to check back later.
