Arrests

Christopher James Beardshear, 47, of Washington, was arrested Wednesday night in the 300 block of East Seventh Street in Washington on a charge of operating while intoxicated, second offense.

Justin Wayne Milam, 32, of West Chester, was arrested Thursday morning in the 300 block of West Street in West Chester on charges of parole violation on OWI third offense, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and eluding.

 

Traffic accident

Johnson County requested Kalona Fire and QRS for a single-vehicle accident with injuries, Wednesday morning in the 2000 block of Angle Road Southwest in Kalona. Everyone was out of the vehicle. There were three children involved, and one had a bloody nose. The vehicle was reported to be on fire. Kalona Fire and QRS responded to assist Johnson County.

A caller Wednesday morning at 130th Street and Riverside Road in Riverside reported a car -- a BMW -- in the ditch, and was unsure if it was occupied. The lights were still on. An officer responded. Upon the officer’s arrival, the vehicle was being pulled out of the ditch.

A caller Wednesday morning at Highway 1 and Lexington Boulevard in Washington reported a gold truck in the ditch. There was no damage, and the vehicle was removed.

A caller Wednesday morning at Johnson Washington Road and 500th Street in Wellman reported a traffic accident with at least one person injured. Wellman Rescue and QRS responded to assist Johnson County.

A caller Wednesday morning at 220th Street and Palm Avenue in Washington reported a blue car in the ditch on the north side by the creek. An officer responded. The vehicle had already been checked on.

A caller Wednesday morning in the 100 block of East Main Street in Washington reported witnessing a car back into another car and drive off. The suspect vehicle, a white Oldsmobile SUV, went westbound on Main Street. It hit an Audi, causing a 3- to 4-inch dent in the rear driver side bumper. An officer responded. Damage was minimal. The owner was contacted. The incident was documented.

A caller Wednesday afternoon at South Avenue E and West Monroe Street in Washington reported a traffic accident with no injuries. An officer responded. Damage was under $1,500. Information was exchanged.

 

Disabled vehicles

An officer reported being out with a disabled vehicle, Wednesday morning at Highway 1 and 220th Street in Washington. The vehicle was getting pulled out and on its way.

 

Assault

A caller Wednesday morning in the 200 block of Washington Street in Ainsworth reported that a male subject was throwing things in the residence and put his hands on his mother and the caller. The caller requested a deputy. The situation was verbal only. The subject was served the final no-contact order. The incident was documented.

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 500 block of C Avenue in Kalona reported that her son and her daughter were assaulted last week. One incident occurred at the school, and one occurred at a school bus stop. An officer responded. The incidents were documented. The school was already aware. The officer was going to attempt to make contact with the parents of the juveniles at the request of the victims’ parents.

 

Barking dog

A caller Wednesday night in the 1900 block of Highway 92 in Washington requested a welfare check on dogs that had been outside all day and had been barking. An officer responded and sat in the area for a while. There were no dogs outside, and there were no barking dogs.

 

Curfew/loitering/vagrancy

An officer reported a vehicle stop, Wednesday night at South Avenue F and West Main Street in Washington. Additional officers responded. A juvenile was transported to her residence and was released to her mother.

 

Drug/narcotics violation

A caller Wednesday night in the 600 block of Whitetail Court in Wellman reported finding a suspicious item. An officer spoke to the caller. The information was documented.

 

Suspicious activity

A caller Wednesday night in the 80 block of West Second Street in Riverside reported suspicious activity. An officer responded. Documentation was made.

A caller reported suspicious activity, Thursday morning in the 200 block of East 15th Street in Washington. The information was documented.

 

Trespass

A caller Wednesday morning in the 1600 block of 335th Street in Brighton reported that snowmobiles were traveling through her yard, last seen headed into Brighton. There were no suspects. The information was documented.

A caller Wednesday morning in the 300 block of South Avenue C in Washington reported that someone kept getting into the second floor of their brick triplex. Tenants had heard someone inside. The caller was advised to have tenants call in when they heard something. Officer planned to give extra patrol.

 

Welfare check

A caller Wednesday morning in the 1600 block of South Airport Road in Washington requested a welfare check on an aircraft that disappeared off their scopes near the Washington airport. The aircraft was making low passes around the airport and might have landed. They lost communications with the pilot. The aircraft was a Cessna 182 with struts on it, and Tail No. 5209P. Officers responded. The aircraft was located. The airport manager was on the scene upon officers’ arrival, and notified Chicago Air Traffic Control Center.

A caller Thursday morning in the 1300 block of Highway 1 in Kalona reported a female subject walking by the road, going southbound from the city of Kalona. An officer responded and located the female subject, and transported her to a residence in Washington.
