Arrests

Justin Allan Dennis, 24, of Wayland, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in the 500 block of West Third Street in Washington on a Henry County warrant for parole violation on an original charge of prohibited acts violation.

Amado Marcelino Jr., 22, of Washington, was arrested Tuesday night at West Third Street and West Fifth Street in Washington on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Charges are pending on an additional subject at the scene.

Traffic accident

A caller Tuesday morning in the 300 block of Ninth Avenue in Wellman reported being involved in an accident by the post office. There were no injuries, and the roadway was not blocked. An officer responded. Damage was under $1,500, and the accident had occurred on private property. Information was exchanged.

A caller Tuesday evening in the 3000 block of Wayland Road in Washington reported hitting a deer. The deer took off. The caller’s 2011 Chrysler 200 had front-end damage. She was advised to fill out a state accident report if damages amounted to more than $1,500. An officer was advised for documentation.

A caller Tuesday night in the 100 block of East Main Street in Washington reported a backing accident. An officer responded. Damage was under $1,500. Information was exchanged.

Traffic other

An officer reported being out with a vehicle parked over the sidewalk, Tuesday afternoon in the 500 block of West Third Street in Washington. A citation was issued to a red Saturn for being parked over the sidewalk.

A caller Tuesday night at Highway 218 and 175th Street in Riverside reported that a tire fell off their vehicle. An officer responded. An automotive company was contacted by the caller, and they assisted in getting the vehicle off the roadway.

A caller Tuesday night in the 400 block of East Main Street in Washington reported that his neighbor hit his car and scratched his bumper. An officer responded and spoke to both subjects. One driver was advised that he was suspended and should not be driving. The incident was documented.

Fire calls

A caller Tuesday morning in the 1600 block of 470th Street S.W. in Kalona reported seeing fire through the timber near Orville Yoder Turnpike and 470th Street S.W. The Kalona Fire Department responded. This was a controlled burn by Secondary Roads.

Animal complaint

A caller Tuesday night in the 1300 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington reported that two dogs came onto their porch and attacked their cat. The dogs, a black Lab and a brown-and-white terrier type dog, left the area going northbound. An officer responded but was unable to locate the dogs.

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Tuesday morning in the 200 block of Second Street in Ainsworth reported that a neighbor knocked on his door at 6 a.m. that morning, asking his wife if he could borrow a cigarette. The caller requested that a deputy speak with the neighbor. An officer later spoke with the caller, who had already resolved the situation with the neighbor. The incident was documented.

Trespass

A caller Tuesday night in the 1400 block of Tulip Avenue in Riverside reported a jeep or small SUV was trespassing on their property as well as a neighbor’s field. It was last seen near Tulip Avenue and 180th Street. An officer responded. Pieces of the vehicle were located after it had hit a deer. The officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

All other theft

A caller Tuesday afternoon in the 500 block of West Third Street in Washington reported a bag that had her signed car title in it was stolen from a residence the previous night. An officer spoke with the caller, who planned to get a replacement title in Jefferson County. Documentation was made.

A caller Tuesday night in the 1600 block of North Fifth Avenue in Washington reported a theft. An officer spoke to the caller and will follow up with him on Wednesday night.

All other offenses

A caller Tuesday evening in the 200 block of East Third Street in Washington reported that the neighbors were harassing her over a vehicle. An officer responded and spoke with all parties. There should be no more issues.
