Arrests

Michael Steven Eastwood, 38, of Ottumwa, was arrested Monday afternoon in the 300 block of West Second Street in Ottumwa on a Washington County warrant for violation of parole.

Andrew Marshall Pearcy, 33, of Brighton, was arrested Monday night in the 300 block of West Main Street in Brighton on a charge of failure to appear for a mittimus.

Donald Eugene Williams II, 19, of Brighton, was arrested Monday night in the 600 block of West Fountain Street in Brighton on a Mahaska County warrant for failure to appear for pretrial conference on an original charge of possession of controlled substance – meth, first offense.

Kyle Lee Letts, 28, of Washington, was arrested Monday night in the 200 block of First Street in Kalona on a Monroe County warrant for failure to appear for show cause hearing on an original charge of possession of controlled substance.

Shawn William Armstrong, 44, of Oelwein, was arrested Tuesday morning in the 1000 block of Walnut Avenue in Riverside on a charge of driving while revoked.

Taylor Gwendolyn Anne Evans, 24, of Keota, was arrested Tuesday morning in the 1300 block of 250th Street in Keota on a Washington County warrant for driving while revoked. Further charges are pending.

Traffic accident

A caller Monday morning in the 1200 block of Riverside Road in Riverside reported a car-vs.-deer accident. The vehicle was drivable. An officer was advised. Documentation was made for insurance purposes. The caller was advised to fill out a state accident report if the damage was over $1,500.

A caller Monday morning in the 100 block of North Iowa Avenue reported a traffic accident that occurred on Jan. 8. The caller advised that the other vehicle involved was a pickup, and the owner told him they did not have any damage and then took off. The caller had damage to the left rear panel of his 2014 Buick LaCrosse. An officer was advised for documentation purposes.

A two-vehicle accident with no injuries was reported Monday afternoon at South Fourth Avenue and East Washington Street in Washington. The vehicles were on South Fourth Avenue. Damages amounted to more than $1,500, and a state report will be filed. There were no charges.

Disabled vehicles

A caller Monday morning in the 1400 block of Highway 1 in Kalona reported he was driving a semi truck and had taken a wrong turn, and was needing help getting back onto the highway. An officer assisted. The semi was back on the correct roadway.

Fire calls

A caller Monday afternoon in the 1500 block of Spruce Avenue in Riverside reported a vehicle on fire outside the business. Riverside Fire responded. A truck was fully engulfed. The fire was extinguished.

Animal complaint

A caller Monday afternoon in the 600 block of East Main Street in Washington reported that there was a loose German shepherd in her yard growling at her. An officer responded. The female subject at the dog’s residence allowed the dog to get back into the backyard but would not open the door for the officer. He planned to check back.

Illegal dumping

A caller Monday morning in the 2600 block of Nutmeg Avenue in Washington reported locating trash dumped in the ditch near a residence. An officer responded and transported the trash to the owner by identifiers in the bag.

Vandalism

A caller Monday morning in the 400 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported a vehicle in the driveway was vandalized and had a broken window. An officer responded. There were no suspects. The incident was documented.

A caller Monday morning in the 1100 block of North Eighth Avenue in Washington reported a window broken out while she was at the residence. An officer responded and advised that the incident was weather-related.

Welfare check

A caller Monday afternoon in the 300 block of West Main Street in Washington requested a welfare check on his ex-wife. Officers responded to two possible locations and were unable to locate her.

All other offenses

A caller Monday morning in the 600 block of Whitetail Court in Wellman reported that a juvenile did not go to school that day, and the caller requested a deputy to respond to the residence to take her to school. An officer waited for 50 minutes for the juvenile to get ready and to be taken to school. She never got ready. The officer made contact with the caller and advised that he was leaving the residence.
