Arrests

Samantha Mary Oxley, 38, was arrested Wednesday night in the 500 block of South Capitol Street in Iowa City on a DCI warrant out of Washington County for gambling – false claim of winnings.

Traffic accident

A caller Wednesday morning in the 2100 block of Highway 218 reported a car in the ditch with its flashers on. An officer responded. There was no damage to the vehicle. The driver was making arrangements to get the vehicle privately towed.

Traffic other

A caller Wednesday morning in the 2100 block of Highway 218 in Ainsworth reported a vehicle in the median. An officer advised that the vehicle was not damaged and that the operator was fine. They had a tow truck on the way to assist.

A caller Wednesday morning at Highway 218 and Old White Way in Crawfordsville reported a vehicle in the median. An officer advised that the vehicle slid into the median. There were no damages to the vehicle, and the operator was fine. The operator had a tow truck on the way to assist.

An officer reported being out with a vehicle and trailer in the median at the Crawfordsville turn-off, Wednesday morning in the 3000 block of Highway 218 in Crawfordsville. The operator had contacted his insurance company and had a tow truck on the way.

A caller Wednesday morning at Highway 218 and 282nd Street in Crawfordsville reported he saw a vehicle slide off the roadway, and the operator appeared to be slumped over the wheel. Crawfordsville QRS, an ambulance, Crawfordsville Fire, a Washington County Rescue unit, and an officer were responding. Crawfordsville QRS on the scene advised all units could disregard.

The vehicle and the operator had been checked on earlier and were waiting for a tow truck.

Disabled vehicles

An officer reported being out with a vehicle on the northbound side in the ditch, Wednesday morning in the 3000 block of Highway 218 in Crawfordsville. There was no damage to the vehicle. The operator was fine. The operator had assistance coming to tow the vehicle out.

An officer reported being out with a vehicle in the ditch, Wednesday morning in the 1000 block of Ginkgo Avenue in Wellman. There was no damage to the vehicle, but there was damage to the property owner’s fence. The operator stated that a tow truck was on the way.

An officer reported being out with a vehicle in the ditch on the northbound side, Wednesday morning at 282nd Street and Highway 218 in Crawfordsville. There was no damage to the vehicle, and the operator was fine. The operator had contacted a tow truck to assist her.

An officer reported an unoccupied vehicle along the roadway, Wednesday morning at 240th Street and Highway 218 in Ainsworth. The vehicle was added to the system.

An officer reported being out with a vehicle, Wednesday morning at Highway 218 and 230th Street in Ainsworth. The operator advised that she was having mechanical issues, and had assistance.

An officer reported a Jeep Trailhawk with dealer plates was partially in the roadway, Wednesday morning in the 300 block of West 18th Street in Washington. The officer made contact with the registered owner.

Animal complaint

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 800 block of South Third Avenue in Washington reported a dog that had been outside all day was trying to get inside a residence, and requested that an officer check on it. The dog was inside upon the officer’s arrival.

Assault

A caller Wednesday afternoon at Highway 92 and Quince Avenue in Washington reported a domestic assault that had occurred on Nov. 13. An officer spoke with the caller. Statements were taken and would be forwarded to the county attorney.

Civil standby

A caller Wednesday night in the 1000 block of Ninth Avenue in Wellman requested a civil standby. The items that the subject needed to retrieve were outside on the porch. There was no problem.

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Wednesday night in the 1900 block of Larch Avenue in Washington reported that his brother was harassing him over property that he wanted returned to him. It was determined that there was no harassment. Subjects were advised to have no further contact that night, but to set up a time when they could all agree to meet and have the property returned.

Motor vehicle theft

A caller Wednesday morning in the 20 block of Parkside Estates Road in Washington reported her vehicle and her debit card were missing. The caller had given a subject permission to take the vehicle to Des Moines. The subject had not yet returned with the vehicle.

A caller Wednesday morning in the 4900 block of Mary Ingles in Silver Grove, Kentucky, reported that subjects had towed/impounded a stolen vehicle from Kalona on Dec. 20, 2017. A Washington County officer spoke with the officer there. The vehicle was cleared from the system.

Suspicious activity

A deputy reported suspicious activity, Wednesday afternoon in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington. The incident is under investigation.

A caller Wednesday night in the 100 block of C Avenue in Kalona reported hearing a gunshot. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate anything.

All other theft

A caller Wednesday night in the 100 block of East Madison Street in Washington reported a gas drive-off in the amount of $44.67. The vehicle was a white Ford F-150. An officer spoke with the driver, who planned to return and pay.
