Arrests

Christopher Alan Stewart, 56, of Columbus City was arrested Thursday night in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington on charges of operating while intoxicated, and improper use of lanes.

Devin Aaron Peck, 27, of Washington was arrested Friday morning in the 2900 block of Highway 92 in Ainsworth on charges of operating while intoxicated, second offense, and failure to obey a stop sign.

Traffic accident

A caller Thursday evening at Hemlock Avenue and Highway 92 in West Chester reported being in a minor vehicle accident on Highway 92 east of West Chester. Both vehicles were pulled over. An officer responded. A juvenile driver was cited for unsafe backing onto a highway. Damage was under $1,500.

A deputy reported being in a minor vehicle accident in the parking lot. There were no injuries. An officer responded. The accident occurred on private property. Information was exchanged between both parties.

Animal complaint

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 300 block of West Fifth Street in Washington reported a bat in her house and requested assistance. An officer was unable to locate the bat.

A deputy reported being out with a sick raccoon that needed to be put down, Thursday night at South Main Street and West South Street in Crawfordsville. The deputy took care of the situation.

Burglary

A caller Thursday morning in the 300 block of Blackberry Avenue in Riverside reported that three of her vehicles were broken into the previous night. There was no forced entry. They were all parked in the driveway. Credit cards, checks in the checkbook, and identification were missing. An officer responded. Nothing was missing from any vehicles. The caller located her items. A neighbor’s vehicle was also rummaged through, with nothing taken. Documentation was made.

Disorderly conduct

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 500 block of North Avenue C in Washington reported having problems with her neighbor coming onto their property and yelling vulgar things at them. An officer responded. The caller did not request that the officer speak to the subject. The incident was documented.

DP & Q

A caller Thursday night in the 500 block of West Third Street in Washington reported their neighbors were outside being loud. An officer responded and spoke to the subjects. They left the area and were advised that, if another complaint were received that night, they could be charged.

Drug/narcotics violation

An officer reported being out at a residence to file charges on a previous incident, Thursday night in the 400 block of East Second Street in Washington. Dakota Alan Kron, 18, of Washington was cited into court for possession of a controlled substance -- marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Derek Gerard Kron, 44, of Washington was cited at the same time and location for possession of a controlled substance -- marijuana, possession of a controlled substance -- methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona reported she was being harassed by another subject in the trailer court, and requested to speak with an officer. The officer left the male subject a voice mail, and the information was documented. The subject called back and advised that a neighbor’s dog attacked her dog. An officer spoke with the caller about the dog attack. No person or dog was attacked, and that report was unfounded. A dog owner will be given a verbal warning for allowing her dog to run at large.

Physical child abuse

A caller Thursday night at West Third Street and West Fifth Street in Washington reported possible child abuse. An officer responded and checked the area and was unable to locate the vehicle.

Vandalism

A caller Thursday morning in the 100 block of North Taylor Street in Brighton reported someone slashed six tires on their property sometime the previous night. The neighbor had one tire slashed. The caller requested a deputy. The caller had all four tires on her vehicle, and two tires on her pop-up camper, slashed. The neighbor had one on her Kia Sorento.

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 600 block of East Hickory Street in Riverside reported that someone went through her son’s Chevrolet Malibu overnight. The caller didn’t think anything was missing. The vehicle was left unlocked. Documentation was made.

Welfare check

A caller Thursday night in the 200 block of Vine Street in Riverside reported a welfare check. An officer responded. The subject was fine.

All other theft

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 1000 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported a gas drive-off that had occurred 20 minutes earlier. The vehicle, a red car with an elderly male driver, left westbound. Keokuk County was going to attempt to make contact with the vehicle owner and have him contact the caller. An officer spoke with the daughter, who said she would have him return and pay.

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 1200 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported her mother’s purse was stolen again in the retirement community. It was a medium-size, black over-shoulder purse. An officer spoke with a subject from the area. There were items from the purse being located on campus. Documentation was made.

All other offenses

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 800 block of East Seventh Street in Washington reported a male teen walked by earlier and then came back on a pink bicycle and dumped it in their front yard on the southeast side. The subject left on foot, jogging. The bike was taken to the bike shed. It was a girl’s 20-inch Kent brand BMX type bike, pink and purple in color.

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 400 block of East Jefferson Street in Washington reported a neighbor was burning trash and it had a foul odor. Also, trash was in his yard. The caller had also notified City Hall of this complaint. An officer responded. The trash was from when the subject burned trash on July 1. He had not picked up the trash in his yard. Documentation was made.

A caller Thursday night in the 300 block of West Main Street in Brighton reported two vehicles with tires that had been stabbed. An officer responded. There was driver side tire damage on one vehicle, and back left passenger tire damage on the other vehicle. The caller had no suspects. Documentation was made.
