Traffic accident

A caller Tuesday afternoon in the 200 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported a two-vehicle accident. An officer responded. Damages amounted to less than $1,500, and information was exchanged between both parties.

Johnson County requested Kalona Fire and QRS for a traffic accident with injuries, Tuesday night in the 5300 block of Sharon Center Road Southwest in Kalona. Kalona Fire and Kalona QRS responded and assisted.

Fire calls

A caller Tuesday night in the 3000 block of Tulip Avenue in Crawfordsville reported a large fire. No one was around the area. Crawfordsville Fire Department responded. This was a fire pit that was not called in. The fire chief intended to make contact with the subject about calling in before starting a fire.

Animal complaint

A caller Tuesday morning in the 1300 block of Jason Lane in Kalona requested a welfare check on a mother dog and two puppies. An officer responded. Documentation was made.

A caller reported a bat in the residence, Tuesday afternoon in the 500 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington. An officer responded. The animal was removed.

A caller Tuesday evening in the 500 block of South Eighth Avenue in Washington reported that a basset hound was loose and another dog was tied up. Both dogs had been out since 6 a.m., about 11 ½ hours. At the time of the call, the dog that was tied up was barking. The caller was not sure that they had food and water. An officer responded and gave the owner a warning.

A caller Tuesday night in the 1700 block of Dogwood Avenue in Keota reported a dog was loose in his yard. He had caught it. This was an ongoing issue. An officer responded and was unable to make contact with the dog owner. An animal shelter picked up the dog. The officer planned to send a certified citation in the mail to the owner for allowing the dog to run at large. Contact was later made with the owner, and he was aware of the dog’s being taken to the animal shelter.

Family offense nonviolent

A caller Wednesday morning at North Fifth Avenue and East Seventh Street in Washington reported that a male and a female were arguing in the residence. Officers responded. The subjects left before the officers arrived. Another subject at the residence stated that it was verbal only.

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Tuesday morning in the 1200 block of Fir Avenue in Wellman reported being harassed. An officer spoke with both parties. This was a dispute over a lawn mower. They were advised not to contact each other. The suspect advised that the next call would be to 911 about an assault. He was advised that further contact could result in harassment charges.

A caller Tuesday night in the 300 block of East Main Street in Washington requested to speak to an officer regarding an incident with his ex-fiancée. An officer responded. The complaint was unfounded.

Suspicious activity

A caller reported that her mother heard someone outside the residence, Tuesday night in the 400 block of East Harrison Street in Washington. Her dog was also barking. An officer responded and checked the area and was unable to locate anything.

Trespass

A caller Tuesday evening in the 1400 block of Fir Avenue in Wellman reported possible trespass. Officers responded. They did see the subject, who ran from the property. Deputies were unable to locate them in the area. The residents agreed to call back if the subject returned.

Vandalism

A caller Tuesday morning in the 100 block of Lake Darling Road in Brighton reported that the door was kicked in to the boat rental building. The caller requested documentation.

A caller Tuesday night in the 300 block of North Avenue C in Washington reported vandalism to a solar panel. An officer responded. The incident was documented.

Welfare check

A caller requested a welfare check, Tuesday night in the 600 block of East Washington Street in Washington. An officer responded. The subject was fine.

All other theft

A caller Tuesday afternoon in the 1000 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported a gas drive-off of $44.01. The female operator left, driving westbound. City officers were advised for an attempt-to-locate. Documentation was made. The caller later called back and advised that the subjects had called in and made arrangements to pay for the gas.

A caller Tuesday night in the 1700 block of 240th Street in Keota reported a trailer stolen between Monday night and Tuesday morning, that had scrap copper on it. An officer responded. A report will be filed. The trailer was entered into the system as stolen.

All other offenses

A caller Tuesday night in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona reported youngsters breaking windows out of a trailer. An officer responded and spoke to the trailer manager. She advised not to pursue charges. She was going to speak with the parents about the issue. Documentation was made.
