Arrests

Charlene Cynthia Clark, 50, of Washington was arrested Wednesday morning in the 300 block of East Seventh Street in Washington on a Washington County warrant for two counts of possession of a controlled substance, third or subsequent – heroin and methadone, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of prescription drug.

Ricky James Jackson, 46, of Kalona was arrested Wednesday night in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona on a charge of willful injury.

John Edward Walling, 21, of West Chester was arrested Wednesday night in the 500 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington on a charge of fourth-degree criminal mischief.

Charles Edward Osborn, 44, of Burlington was arrested Thursday morning in the 400 block of North Third in Burlington on a Washington County warrant for failure to appear for contempt hearing on failure to pay child support.

Fire calls

A caller Wednesday night in the 300 block of East Madison Street in Washington reported she could not see smoke but could smell wires burning at her residence. The caller was getting everyone out. Washington Fire Department and officers responded, and an ambulance was on standby. No problem was located. Everything was fine.

Traffic accident

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 500 block of Highway 1 in Washington reported a two-vehicle accident involving a jeep and a blue smaller car. They were near the cart rack in the parking lot. An officer responded and assisted with an information exchange. Damage was under $1,500. There were no injuries, and the accident had occurred on private property.

Disabled vehicles

A caller Wednesday afternoon at Highway 218 and 160th Street in Riverside reported a light blue Buick LeSabre broken down on the southbound side of the roadway, with an elderly couple inside. An officer responded but was unable to locate the vehicle.

Fire calls

Johnson County reported a fire alarm, Wednesday morning in the 1400 block of 540th Street S.W. in Kalona. Kalona Fire was disregarded. This was a false alarm.

Assault

A caller Thursday morning in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona reported being assaulted. An officer responded. The subject did not want to pursue charges. The officer attempted to locate the suspect and was unable to locate him.

DP & Q

A caller Wednesday night in the 1500 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington reported subjects who live south of her were shooting off fireworks. Officers responded and checked the area, and were unable to locate the problem.

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Wednesday morning in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona reported harassment. A female subject was standing behind her truck, taking pictures. An officer spoke with all parties. This was not harassment, and there was nothing to be done. Documentation was requested. Two other callers also reported harassment about the same situation.

A caller Wednesday morning in the 1100 block of E Place in Kalona reported harassment via text messages. An officer spoke with the subject and advised the caller to report it to Johnson County.

A caller Wednesday night in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona reported a male subject was yelling at him and would not let him go and mow a yard. Officers responded due to an assault reported between the same two males.

Trespass

A caller Wednesday evening in the 300 block of West Main Street in Washington reported a male subject on the property, who they believe is not supposed to be there. An officer responded. The male was waiting for a ride, and did leave. The office spoke with the landlord, who advised that he did not want the male on the property. The subject was going to be advised if he came back.

Welfare check

A caller Wednesday morning in the 500 block of Washington Street in Kalona requested a welfare check. An officer responded and made contact with the subject, who was fine.

A caller Wednesday morning at 150th Street and Highway 218 in Riverside reported a female subject in her 30s who was carrying belongings and walking along the shoulder of Highway 218. She was wearing tan boots, a white floral shirt and blue jeans. No vehicles were around. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate anyone.

All other theft

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 600 block of E Avenue in Kalona reported a gas drive-off five minutes earlier, for $28.75 in gas. The subject was a female driver, last seen heading westbound. An officer was advised. Documentation was made.

A caller Thursday morning in the 300 block of West Jefferson Street in Washington reported the theft of a tablet. An officer responded. The caller was going to try to find the make and serial number for the tablet. The incident is under investigation.

All other offenses

A caller Wednesday night at East Third Street and North 10th Avenue in Washington reported dogs barking because of some suspicious activity in the alley. Officers responded and were unable to locate any suspicious activity.

A caller Wednesday night in the 300 block of West Main Street in Washington reported a subject was trying to get into an apartment that he was not supposed to be in. Officers responded and advised the male subject he was not allowed to return; and if he did, he would be arrested for trespass.
