Arrests

Nathan Richard Atkinson, 24, of Wellman, was arrested Friday night at Second Street and Ninth Avenue in Wellman on a Washington County warrant for possession of a controlled substance – cannabidiol, third or subsequent offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Further charges are pending.

Kimberly Sue Williams, 52, of Cedar Rapids, was arrested Saturday morning in the 500 block of First Street Southwest in Cedar Rapids on a Washington County warrant for possession of controlled substance – marijuana, first offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Libby Elwa Drivett III, 42, of Savannah, Illinois, was arrested Saturday morning in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington on a Washington County warrant for voluntary absence from custody.

Nikolaos Lagiotis, 23, of Sigourney, was arrested Sunday morning at Highway 92 and Railroad Street in West Chester on a charge OWI, first offense.

Christopher Nicholas Boyum Cameron, 25, of Washington, was arrested Sunday morning in the 800 block of South Third Avenue in Washington on a charge of probation violation. He was also charged with possession of controlled substance, first offense.

Traffic accident

A caller Saturday afternoon in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside reported that someone opened their car door and struck his vehicle. An officer responded. Information was exchanged between both parties.

Traffic stop serious

An officer reported being at a vehicle stop, Saturday night at Nutmeg Avenue and 220th Street in Washington. An additional officer also responded. Bradly David Lorack, 39, of Columbus Junction, was cited for driving under suspension, first offense.

Disabled vehicles

An officer reported being out with a vehicle, Friday night at Highway 218 and the Highway 92 ramp in Ainsworth. The officer advised that the vehicle was not occupied, and was added to the system.

An officer reported being out with a semi with its flashers on, Saturday morning at 320th Street and Highway 218 in Crawfordsville. The driver was having issues with his lights and was going to try to fix the problem.

Animal complaint

A caller Friday morning in the 800 block of North Sixth Avenue in Washington reported that a neighbor’s boxer attacked her puppy in their yard. An officer responded. A citation was issued to Tori Palmer for allowing a dog to run at large. The dog was up-to-date on rabies immunization.

A mail carrier reported that she was being approached aggressively by a black-and-white pitbull, Saturday morning in the 700 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington. An officer responded. A citation was issued to Ashlee Weimer, of Washington, for allowing a dog to run at large.

A caller Saturday afternoon in the 900 block of East Main Street in Washington reported that a nearby residence had a barking dog that had no water, food, shade, or housing. The dog had been outside for an unknown amount of time. An officer made contact with the residents, who advised that they were dog sitting. The dog had been out for about an hour and was inside upon the officer’s arrival. There were no further problems.

A caller Sunday evening in the 400 block of Seventh Avenue in Wellman reported that dogs in the area were barking. An officer responded. There were no dogs barking.

Assault

A caller reported an assault between two males at the bar, Saturday morning in the 500 block of East Seventh Street in Washington. City units responded. An ambulance was disregarded. Both of the subjects left before the officers’ arrival. The subjects were located at their residences. A report will be filed. Charges will be filed on two Washington residents for disorderly conduct.

A caller Saturday morning in the 300 block of East Street in West Chester reported that his son struck him on the side of the head with a hand digger. The son was currently upstairs in his room. The caller advised that he did not need medical attention. An officer responded. The parties were going to be separated. The caller’s daughter planned to pick up her brother and remove him from the residence.

Burglary

A caller Friday night in the 700 block of A Avenue in Kalona reported that her phone was taken out of their vehicle. An officer spoke with the caller. A report will be filed. A gold iPhone 8 with a green otterbox was entered into the system.

Curfew/loitering/vagrancy

An officer reported being out with a vehicle, Sunday night in the 1100 block of South Avenue B in Washington. The officer spoke to the juveniles.

Disorderly conduct

A caller Saturday afternoon in the 1600 block of North Fifth Avenue in Washington reported a male and a female fighting inside the apartment. Officers responded. There was no fight. The male resident was just upset.

A caller Saturday night in the 500 block of South 11th Avenue in Washington reported a dispute with a female subject at the residence. She was yelling and throwing things. He was not injured. Officers responded. The incident was verbal only. The parties planned to separate within the home for the night.

An officer received a report Sunday night of a fight involving juvenile earlier that day in the 700 block of South Second Avenue in Washington. The parents asked to have them spoken to. An officer responded. The juveniles were counseled about the incident.

DP & Q

A caller Friday night in the 600 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington reported hearing someone using a saw outside of their residence. Officers responded. The subject was overhearing the motocross at the fairgrounds. There was no suspicious activity located outside the residence.

A caller Saturday night in the 200 block of F Place in Kalona reported that someone was shooting off fireworks near the girls’ ball diamond. It was possibly coming from the apartments in the area. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate any fireworks.

A caller Sunday night in the 30 block of Parkside Estates Road in Washington reported that someone was playing loud music in their trailer. An officer responded and spoke with the subject. The music was already shut off, but they did admit to playing loud music.

Family offense nonviolent

A caller Sunday morning in the 300 block of Third Street in Wellman reported that her brother would not let her son leave with her. An officer responded and spoke with all parties involved. The child left with his mother. The problem was resolved.

A caller Sunday morning in the 700 block of A Avenue in Kalona reported that the male subject she lived with was threatening her inside the residence. The male subject was hitting himself and saying he was going to say she did it to him. The caller said she had left with her child. An officer responded and spoke with both parties. The incident was verbal, and the parties separated. They would possibly call in later if assistance were needed for retrieving items when one party moved out.

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Friday morning in the 100 block of B Avenue in Kalona reported harassment to a family member. An officer made contact with all parties involved via telephone. A subject was advised not to return to the property.

A caller Friday night in the 600 block of North Avenue B in Washington reported harassment from the neighbors. An officer spoke to the caller and made contact with the neighbors. No further issues were anticipated.

A caller Sunday afternoon in the 300 block of West Washington Street in Washington reported she was being harassed by her landlord. The landlord was trying to get hold of her to move her vehicle. An officer responded and spoke with the landlord. He agreed to move his trailer and try to avoid her.

Mental subject

A caller Sunday afternoon in the 100 block of West Fourth Street in Riverside reported needing to speak with someone regarding some issues at the residence. An officer responded. A family member was contacted to assist.

Public intoxication

A caller requested an officer to the apartments because of intoxicated subjects outside, Saturday night in the 1300 block of North Second Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. Documentation was made.

Suspicious activity

A caller Friday night at 200th Street and Riverside Road in Washington reported a suspicious drone flying around his daughter’s residence, and now had located it in the air at 200th and Riverside Road. Officers responded and followed the drone for a while until they lost sight of it. Documentation was made.

A caller Sunday morning at South Marion Avenue and West Washington Street in Washington reported a subject lying on the bandstand with a blanket over him. An officer responded. The subject just had a jacket over his legs. He had not stayed there.

Vandalism

A caller Friday afternoon in the 1000 block of Highway 218 in Riverside reported his windshield was chipped three times as he followed an older maroon Ford truck hauling gravel southbound on Highway 218, that turned off at the Riverside exit. An officer was advised for documentation purposes.

A caller Saturday afternoon in the 500 block of 13th Street in Wellman had vandalism. Mud was covering the floor and walls of the band shell. The caller was planning to make contact with a bus group that had been in the park before the incident.

A caller Sunday morning in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside reported that the back window of his vehicle was damaged overnight. It had been parked in the parking lot. The vehicle was a gold 2017 Ford Explorer. Documentation was made for the time being. Casino security planned to check the camera videos.

Weapons violation

A caller Saturday night at A Avenue and Ninth Street in Kalona reported two seventh-grade boys on bicycles, and one was holding a large gun in the air. The caller was unsure if this was a play gun. The boys were last seen going toward the sales barn. Officers responded and spoke with the parents, who advised it was a BB gun. They agreed to contact their son to return it home.

Welfare check

A caller Saturday morning in the 2000 block of 250th Street in Washington requested a welfare check. An officer made contact with the subject, and she was fine.

A caller Sunday morning in the 100 block of West Washington Street in Washington reported that a subject in a dark blue car kept leaning on the steering wheel and was setting off the horn. The caller requested an officer to check on him. An officer responded and spoke with the subject. Everything was fine.

A caller Saturday night in the 700 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington requested a welfare check on her neighbor. A male subject wearing an orange shirt and dark-colored shorts ran up onto his porch. Officers responded. The juvenile subject was returned to his parents and was advised not to return or he would be charged with trespass.

Security received information Saturday night on a juvenile who was possibly being assaulted by his mother in a hotel room, and requested a deputy to respond. An officer responded. The children left with the father, and DHS will be contacted.

All other offenses

A caller Sunday morning in the 100 block of Sixth Street in Kalona reported that a juvenile was riding on a bicycle following a white truck, and screaming for his mother. An officer spoke with the subjects and advised that the child was following his parents home. Everything was fine.
