Arrests

Adam Richard Hotchkiss, 34, of Wayland was arrested Friday morning on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance – marijuana.

Travis Dean Stauffer, 33, of Wayland was arrested Friday afternoon in the 400 block of South Benton Street in Brighton on a charge of driving while license under revocation.

Elisabeth Irene Graber, 31, of Crawfordsville was arrested Saturday morning at Spruce Avenue and Highway 92 in Washington on charges of OWI, first offense, and improper use of lanes.

Brian Charles Howard, 39, of Ottumwa was arrested Saturday morning in the 300 block of West Second Street in Ottumwa on a Washington County warrant for failure to appear for sentencing on public intoxication, third.

Ricky Dale Harms Sr., 59, of Cedar Rapids was arrested Saturday afternoon in the 500 block of First Street S.W. in Cedar Rapids on a Washington County warrant for violation on parole on original charge of prohibited acts, manufacture deliver conspiracy or possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine.

Christopher Nicholas Cameron, 24, of Washington was arrested Sunday morning in the 700 block of East 11th Street in Washington on Washington County warrants for violation of probation on original charge of assault causing serious injury, interference with official acts, and failure to appear on driving under suspension.

Ehren David Schneider, 37, of Brighton was arrested Sunday night in the 200 block of East Washington Street in Washington on charges of public intoxication, third and subsequent, interference with official acts, and assault on persons of certain occupations.

Charles Edward King Jr., 42, of Iowa City was arrested Sunday night in the 1300 block of 145th Street in Wellman on charges of trespass, disorderly conduct and no valid driver’s license.

Traffic accident

A caller Friday night at Ginkgo Avenue and 210th Street in West Chester reported hitting a deer. There were no injuries to the vehicle occupants, and the vehicle was drivable. The vehicle, a silver 2010 Volkswagen Passat, had damage to the hood, passenger side front quarter panel, grille and headlight. The operator had recently purchased the vehicle.

A caller Saturday morning at Juniper Avenue and Highway 92 in West Chester reported a car vs. deer accident with no injuries to vehicle occupants. The vehicle was totaled, and damages amounted to more than $1,500. The vehicle was towed.

A caller Saturday morning in the 400 block of East Madison Street in Washington reported a male subject just hit her vehicle. There were no injuries. An officer responded. Damages were over $1,500, and a state accident report will be filed. There were no citations, as both drivers were at fault.

A caller reported a two-vehicle accident, Saturday afternoon in the 400 block of Ninth Avenue in Wellman. Vehicles involved were a white Ford Mustang and a black Pontiac Grand Prix. An officer responded. Hunter Duane Rowe was cited for unsafe backing. Damage amounted to more than $1,500.

A caller Saturday night at Highway 218 and the Highway 92 Ramp at Ainsworth reported being involved in a vehicle vs. deer accident. The caller had no injuries. The vehicle was not drivable, and the caller had a tow truck on the way. The accident was documented.

A caller Sunday morning in the 3200 block of Highway 22 in Riverside reported a car vs. deer accident with no injuries to the occupants, just damage to the grille of the vehicle. The vehicle was drivable. The accident was documented.

Traffic stop serious

An officer reported being at a vehicle stop with two vehicles, Saturday night at Highway 1 and 270th Street in Washington. A citation was issued to Kevin Daniel Zapiensz Mojarro, 24, of Columbus Junction, for driving under suspension.

Traffic other

A caller Friday afternoon at North Marion Avenue and West Second Street in Washington reported a dark blue shiny truck hit his arm while he was walking across a crosswalk five to 10 minutes earlier. He had ono injuries. He was unable to obtain a license plate. An officer responded and spoke to the caller. No additional information was obtained. Documentation was made.

Dispatch received a driving complaint Friday evening in the 1600 block of Highway 22 in Wellman. A black Kia Sorento with Texas plates was all over the roadway, slowing down and speeding up. An officer located the vehicle. The driver was trying to get her GPS up while driving. She was counseled on her driving.

A caller Saturday morning in the 3300 block of Old White Way in Ainsworth reported an F-150 pickup truck was sitting in the middle of the roadway and did not have any lights on it. A citation was issued to Seth Patrick Gillis, 19, of Crawfordsville for possession under the legal age. The vehicle was secured and sitting in the lane.

A caller Saturday afternoon in the 600 block of Highway 1 in Washington reported a motorcycle driver was hunched over the motorcycle while driving northbound on Highway 1 from the Brighton area. The vehicle was traveling at about 5 mph, and a gold minivan was closely following the motorcycle. An officer located the two vehicles and stopped them by the fairground entrance. Citations and warnings were given to both operators.

A caller Sunday morning in the 200 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported a vehicle parked in front of the residence had been running since 10:30 p.m. the previous night. The owner was located and the vehicle was turned off.

Disabled vehicles

An officer reported being out with a disabled vehicle, Friday afternoon at South Avenue B and West Washington Street in Washington. The officer advised that the driver got the vehicle running again.

An officer reported being out with a disabled vehicle, occupied, Saturday afternoon in the 1300 block of Riverside Road in Riverside. Everything was fine. The subjects just needed directions.

Dispatch received report s of a disabled vehicle with its flashers on, Sunday afternoon at Highway 982 and Lexington Boulevard in Washington. Everything was fine. The driver was tired and pulled over to take a nap.

Animal complaint

A caller Saturday morning in the 300 block of Fifth Street in Ainsworth reported a suspicious ad on Craigslist. An officer responded and was unable to locate anything suspicious.

A caller Saturday afternoon in the 300 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported a vehicle passing by struck a dog, and the dog was deceased. An officer responded. The dog was a schnauzer type dog, dark black with gray or white around the face, and with a white braided rope collar. The owner was unknown. The dog was taken to a veterinary clinic for hold until the owner could pick it up.

A caller Sunday morning in the 1200 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington reported her neighbor’s dogs were loose. An officer responded and located the dog owner. The owner confined the dogs.

Burglary

A caller Saturday morning in the 400 block of F Avenue in Kalona reported noticing the previous day that items were moved around in his vehicle. He was missing a fillet knife and a pair of binoculars. The truck was parked inside the garage. An officer responded. A report will be filed.

Civil dispute

A caller Friday afternoon in the 3000 block of 150th Street in Riverside reported that the neighbor’s cattle had damaged the fence where the caller’s parents owned property. The neighbors were refusing to repair it. An officer spoke with the caller and advised calling the township trustees about the situation.

Disorderly conduct

A caller Sunday morning in the 700 block of East 15th Street in Washington reported a dispute between two subjects nearby. An officer spoke with both parties. There was no problem.

DP & Q

A caller Friday night in the 900 block of East Third Street in Washington reported loud firecrackers going off in the area. An officer responded to the area and sat there for some time. The officer checked the area of East Third and East Second streets and was unable to locate.

A caller Saturday afternoon in the 400 block of South Second Avenue in Washington reported today that three fireworks explosions had been set off from a nearby address, the last one 10 to 15 minutes earlier. An officer stopped at the residence in question, and no one was home. The subject did call in and speak with the officer in reference to the complaint.

A caller Sunday morning in the 500 block of N Avenue in Kalona reported a loud party outside with loud music in the area. An officer responded and the music was turned down.

A caller Sunday morning in the 600 block of East Third Street in Riverside reported loud music outside of a nearby residence, and believed subjects were having a gathering. An officer responded and made contact with the subject, who turned the music down.

Drug/narcotics violation

A caller Friday morning in the 100 block of South Farmer Street in Brighton reported suspicious activity. Officers responded. Documentation was made.

Family offense non-violent

A caller Friday night in the 100 block of Fifth Street in Wellman reported her husband was intoxicated and breaking things in the house and being verbally aggressive with her. Officers responded. The male was taken to his mother’s home for the night and was advised to stay in.

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Friday evening in the 300 block of East Main Street in Washington reported her boyfriend received several texts from a certain number. The offenders were continuing to text after being asked not to. An officer contacted the reporting party and attempted to contact the number the texts were coming from. The subjects hung up on the officer at every attempt to speak with them. Documentation was made.

A caller Friday night in the 2300 block of 303rd Street in Washington reported his ex-employee had been texting, harassing him with some threats and other random texts. An officer spoke to the reporting party and attempted to reach the other subject by PBX. His voice mail box was not set up and would not answer his phone. It was determined that, if further contact were to occur, there would be charges. The information was documented.

A caller Saturday afternoon in the 600 block of South Second Avenue in Washington reported that a juvenile female messaged the friend of the caller’s daughter, saying she was going to kill the daughter when she got back into the country. An officer attempted contact with the reporting party. Documentation was made.

A caller Saturday night in a downtown alley in Riverside reported being harassed and threatened by his “ex.” An officer spoke with both parties. They were having a custody issue.

A caller Saturday night in the 2300 block of 303rd Street in Washington reported that a subject was texting him nonstop. The officer spoke with the caller and had attempted to make contact with the harassing party.

A caller Sunday morning in the 300 block of East Third Street in Washington reported receiving harassing text messages. An officer advised the caller to get a civil no-contact order on Monday.

Public service contacts

Dispatch received information of someone sleeping behind the tanks at the co-op, Saturday morning in the 2000 block of Keokuk Washington road in Keota. An officer responded.

Runaways/missing person

A caller Friday night in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington reported her son was missing. He was supposed to be at the neighbors’ apartment. Officers responded. The male juvenile was located with a neighbor at Sunset Park, looking for his lost phone.

Suspicious activity

A caller Friday afternoon in the 3000 block of 170th Street in Riverside reported suspicious activity. An officer was advised. Documentation was made.

Dispatch received a call that was made in error, Saturday morning in the 200 block of North Van Buren Street in Brighton.

Trespass

A caller Sunday morning in the 300 block of South Farmer Street in Brighton reported that a male subject kept sneaking through his window, and the caller asked to speak with a deputy. An officer spoke with the suspect, who was advised he was not welcome to return to the residence.

Vandalism

A caller Sunday afternoon in the 700 block of East Third Street in Washington reported that her neighbor came over and pulled flowers out of her hanging pots and threw them in the driveway. Rosaline Marie Lowe, 59, of Washington was cited into court for fifth-degree criminal mischief.

Weapons violation

A caller Sunday morning at West Adams Street and South Avenue C in Washington reported tha,t while she was riding her bike, a BB or a bullet went directly in front of her, coming from the west. She could hear it hit something. Officers responded and spoke to a male subject in the 400 block of North Avenue C in Washington. Everyone inside was sleeping. The officers were unable to locate the source of the problem.

Welfare check

A caller Friday afternoon in the 1100 block of Highway 218 in Riverside reported a female wearing a black dress was walking southbound on Highway 218. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate the subject.

A caller Sunday morning at North Third Avenue and East 11th Street in Washington reported a special--needs male, approximately 8 to 9 years old, who was wandering around in the street unsure of where he belonged. He was wearing blue jeans, a striped shirt, glasses and a ball cap. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate the subject.

All other theft

An officer reported finding a small green Hot Wheels bike, Friday afternoon in the 600 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington. . The officer took the bicycle to the bike shed.

A gas drive-off was reported Saturday afternoon in the 1000 block of West Madison Street in Washington, that had occurred 10 to 15 minutes earlier. The vehicle involved was a silver Monte Carlo. The plate did not match the vehicle description. A broadcast was put out to city units on the gas drive-off.

All other offenses

A caller Friday morning in the 1000 block of West Madison Street in Washington reported her boyfriend left in her car and she was stranded at the gas station. An officer responded. The caller didn’t want to pursue any charges. The officer tried to make contact with the male subject.

A caller Friday afternoon in the 600 block of South Fourth Avenue in Washington reported there were juveniles on the roof and the gutter after they climbed up from the back door area of the school building. Four juveniles were located and parents contacted.

A caller Saturday morning at East 13th Street and North Fifth Avenue in Washington reported an abandoned bicycle that was thrown down by the sewer drain. An officer transported the blue Magna boys bicycle to the bike shed.

A caller Friday night in the 1100 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington reported three juveniles were trying to steal the neighbor’s cats. She confronted them and they started cursing at her. Officers responded. Three juvenile females were yelling at the caller when officers arrived. They were advised they were no longer allowed onto the property or the neighbor’s property. Verbal warning was given to the three juveniles.

A caller Sunday night in the 600 block of West Monroe Street in Washington report ed a group of youngsters set off fireworks in her garage. Officers responded and checked the area, and were unable to locate the subjects letting off the fireworks.

A caller Sunday night in the 600 block of West Tyler Street in Washington reported harassment. An officer spoke to the caller and advised it was a civil issue.

A caller Monday morning in the 100 block of North Ella Street in Riverside reported a domestic fight that could be physical. While on the phone, the caller noticed a female outside and a male who left in a Ford Explorer. An officer responded. A report  will

be filed. Charges are pending for domestic assault.
