Frantz George Smith, 22, of Moline, Ill., was arrested Wednesday evening in the 1100 block of Eighth Avenue in Wellman for failure to appear for an initial appearance on no peddler’s permit.
Jeremy Dawayne Paul, 37, of Kinross, was arrested Wednesday night in the 100 block of E Avenue in Kalona for possession of a controlled substance.

Traffic accidents
A subject reportedly drove into the front of a parked vehicle in the 300 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington Wednesday afternoon. Officers responded. Information was exchanged.

A caller in the 400 block of East Third Street in Riverside reported Wednesday night that someone entered her house and took her purse containing her driver’s license and Social Security card, some recording equipment and notebooks. Officers spoke with the caller.

All other thefts
A caller in the 600 block of East Polk Street in Washington reported Wednesday afternoon the Cooking Club of American had sent him a knife for trial and it had been taken from the box. Officers responded. The incident was documented.
Angel Lagunas, 19, was cited into court Wednesday night in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington for fifth-degree theft.

A caller in the 600 block of Third Street in Wellman reported Wednesday night having problems with her son at the residence. Officers responded. The parties were separated.

Animal complaints
An injured deer was reported Wednesday morning on Highway 218 in Crawfordsville. Officers responded.
An officer was requested Wednesday morning in the 100 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington to assist with removing a snake from the entrance. The snake was captured and relocated near Hayes Timber.
A horse was reported Wednesday evening in the 2800 block of 220th Street in Ainsworth looking very thin and in need of attention. Officers responded. The horse had hay but needed water. Officers will contact the owner.

A vehicle with a loud exhaust was reported driving in the 1000 block of North Fifth Avenue in Washington. Officers spoke with the owner.

All other offenses
A caller in the 300 block of East Fifth Street in Washington reported Wednesday night that someone threw a bottle at her while she was sitting on the front porch. Officers responded.

Suspicious activity
A caller in the 1400 block of North Sixth Avenue in Washington reported Thursday morning someone was pounding on her door. Officers were unable to locate anyone.

Public service contact
A caller in the 400 block of East Polk Street in Washington reported Wednesday afternoon that a subject was in Sunday evening and went to the kitchen looking for food. He wandered around in the hospital. He returned Wednesday and was wandering around, but was gone before the caller could find him. Officers contacted the subject and advised him not to loiter in the hospital or he will be cited.

Civil dispute
Two calves had reportedly gotten onto a property in the 1900 block of 335th Street in Brighton Wednesday evening. The neighbors would not allow the caller to retrieve the animals. Officers spoke with both parties.
