Arrests

James David Weber, 63, of Washington, was arrested Tuesday morning in the 100 block of West Second Street in Washington on three Keokuk County warrants for violation of a no-contact order contempt of court.

Steven Tyler Bittner, 23, of Brighton, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington on a Department of Natural Resources warrant issued out of Washington County for possession of controlled substance – marijuana, first offense, and possession of controlled substance – methamphetamine, first offense.

Eric J. Ryan, 29, of Washington, was arrested Tuesday night in the 200 block of East 14th Street in Washington on a Washington County warrant for two counts of indecent contact with a child.

Bradley Michael Kudla, 26, of Kalona, was arrested Tuesday night in the 400 block of East Polk Street in Washington on a Washington County warrant for probation violation on original charge of OWI.

Lana-Rae Lynn Meserole, 21, homeless, was arrested Wednesday morning in the 100 block of West Second Street in Washington on a charge of public intoxication. Nicholas James Wayne, 27, homeless, was arrested at the same time and location on a charge of public intoxication.

Traffic accident

A caller Tuesday morning in the 3100 block of 320th Street in Crawfordsville reported a blue vehicle on its top. It was unknown whether anyone was inside. Officers, a Washington County Rescue unit, an ambulance, Crawfordsville QRS and Crawfordsville Fire responded. The ambulance was disregarded since no one was around the vehicle. The vehicle was towed, and could be released upon payment of the towing bill. An officer made contact with the driver. A state accident report was filed.

A caller Wednesday morning in the 2600 block of Highway 22 in Riverside reported a car-vs.-deer accident. There were no injuries to vehicle occupants, and the vehicle was drivable. The subject was advised to pick up a state accident report if damages were more than $1,500. The deer was still in the roadway when the subject left the area. An officer responded. The deer was already moved off the traveled portion of the roadway. The accident was documented for insurance purposes.

Disabled vehicles

An officer reported being out with a disabled vehicle with no license plates, Tuesday morning in the 1300 block of Highway 78 in Brighton. Caution tape was placed on the vehicle, and it was added to the system.

An officer reported a possible disabled vehicle, Tuesday afternoon at Highway 22 and Hickory Avenue in Wellman. The female operator was just pulled over to use her phone. There was no problem.

An officer reported being out with a vehicle with its hazard lights on, Tuesday night at Highway 1 and 190th Street in Washington. Everything was fine. The subject was taking a picture of the rainbow.

Animal complaint

A caller Tuesday morning in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside reported a dog locked in a car in the parking lot for more than half an hour. The vehicle was a tan Malibu. A male party did come out once and yell at the dog to stop barking, but went back inside. An officer responded and made contact with the subjects. They were given five minutes to cash out their winnings and leave with the dog.

DP & Q

A caller Tuesday night in the 200 block of A Avenue in Kalona reported that subjects were setting off fireworks nonstop at a nearby trailer. An officer was unable to locate any fireworks going off.

Drug/narcotics violation

A caller Tuesday afternoon in the 200 block of West Main Street in Washington reported just coming back to her office, and she could smell marijuana coming from an apartment above her. Officers responded and were unable to locate any odor.

Family offense nonviolent

A caller Tuesday night in the 2100 block of Lexington Boulevard in Washington reported a granddaughter out of control, and needed a police officer to help calm her down. An officer responded. The child had calmed down.

Liquor law violations

An intoxicated male was reported at a business location, Tuesday night in the 200 block of Eighth Avenue in Wellman. The caller had taken his keys because he was not able to drive. He had threatened people inside with a gun, and possibly had knives in his vehicle. The subject had walked to his sister’s residence. She took his keys. An officer responded and advised that if he returned to the bar, he would be arrested for trespass.

Pornography

A caller Tuesday evening in the 400 block of North Railroad Street in Ainsworth reported suspicious activity. An officer responded. The incident is under investigation. A report will be filed.

All other theft

A caller Tuesday afternoon in the 1300 block of Highway 1 in Brighton reported that a vehicle he had purchased was broken down just east of the entrance to Lake Darling. The vehicle had been sitting there for 10 hours. It was a 2000 Chevrolet Lumina with no plates. Stolen were the registration, a can of oil and an oil filter. An officer spoke with the caller. Documentation was made.

All other offenses

An officer reported being out checking on a subject, Tuesday afternoon in the 100 block of E Avenue in Kalona. The subject was located and wanted the officer to take him back to the hospital. The officer transported the subject to Washington County Hospital in Washington.
