Charges filed

Synthia Renee Palmer, 15, of Washington, was charged Thursday morning in the 1100 block of South B Avenue in Washington with disorderly conduct. Katelyn Nicole Davis, 16, of Washington, was charged at the same time and location with assault and disorderly conduct.


Traffic accidents

A two-vehicle accident was reported Thursday morning at North 12th Avenue and 220th Street in Washington. Officers, Washington County Rescue, Washington County Ambulance and the Iowa State patrol responded. Vehicles were towed. The Iowa State Patrol will handle the report.

A truck reportedly went into a ditch Thursday afternoon in the 1500 block of Nutmeg Avenue in Kalona. Officers responded. The vehicle was towed.

A caller reported Thursday evening that his friend was turning his tractor into a driveway and the car behind hit him in the 3000 block of Highway 1 in Brighton. Officers responded. A state accident report will be filed.

An accident was reported Thursday night at South Seventh Avenue and East Madison Street in Washington. Spencer Moeller of Washington was cited for failure to maintain control.

A caller reported Friday morning that her son called her and stated he had wrecked her car in the 2700 block of W55 in Washington. Officers responded. The vehicle was towed.


Traffic other

A small child was reported standing up in the back seat of a vehicle in the 100 block of West Second Street in Washington Thursday afternoon. Officers spoke with the driver. The juvenile had gotten out of his car seat prior to the vehicle stopping.


Fire calls

A semi was reported Thursday morning on Highway 22 in Riverside and flames were coming from its rear tires. Riverside Fire, Washington County Ambulance, officers and Johnson County responded. The fire was extinguished. The trailer was towed.


All other thefts

A caller reported Thursday afternoon an item he purchased around Christmas time came up missing. It was being stored in a garage in the 300 block of North C Avenue in Washington. Officers spoke with all parties. It was a civil issue.



Someone reportedly ran over a mailbox in the 2100 block of Riverside Road in Washington Thursday morning. The caller reported tire tracks where it appears a vehicle slid into it. The incident was documented.

Damage was reported to an apartment in the 300 block of West Washington Boulevard in Washington Thursday morning. The incident is under investigation.



A caller in the 100 block of Alegre Lane in Washington reported Friday morning hearing someone in the residence. Officers were unable to locate anyone.


Disorderly conduct

A caller in the 400 block of East Second Street in Washington reported Thursday afternoon that her grandson was out of control. Officers responded. A consent search was done on the property. The incident is under investigation.


Animal complaint

A dog in the 500 block of West Washington Boulevard in Washington was reported tangled up and unable to get to shelter Thursday morning. Officers responded. The owner was made aware of the city ordinance for animals.

A barking dog was reported Thursday morning in the 20 block of Parkside Estates Road in Washington. Officers were unable to make contact with the owner.



Loud music was reported coming from the 500 block of North C Avenue in Washington Friday morning. Mary Megan Jenkins was cited for disorderly conduct.


Suspicious activity

Two suspicious trucks were reported driving past a residence in the 2300 block of Spruce Avenue in Washington. Officers were unable to locate.

A vehicle was reported sitting in the 1100 block of South E Avenue in Washington with a few people sitting inside who are acting suspicious. Officers spoke with the subjects who will move on.
