Arrests

Kolten Pennington-Thyen, 18, of Washington, was arrested Monday night at North Iowa Avenue and East Second Street in Washington on a charge of forgery. Further charges are pending DCI lab results. Charges are also pending per DCI lab results on a juvenile.

Ehren David Schneider, 38, of Brighton, was arrested Monday night in the 200 block of North Harrison Street in Brighton on charges of assault causing injury, willful injury, and first-degree harassment.

Allen Edmund Boecher, 56, of Fort Madison, was arrested Tuesday morning at Highway 218 and the Highway 92 ramp in Ainsworth on charges of operating while intoxicated, second offense, and unsafe approach to a stationary vehicle.

Shawn Howard Lurkens, 48, of Cedar Rapids, was arrested Tuesday morning in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington on charges of third-degree theft and trespass.

 

Traffic accident

A caller Monday night in the 2000 block of Wayland Road in Washington reported a car-vs.-deer accident with no injuries to vehicle occupants. The vehicle was not drivable. An officer advised that the vehicle would be left on 295th Street. Documentation was made.

 

Traffic other

An officer reported checking into a parking complaint, Monday afternoon in the 100 block of North Second Avenue in Washington. The officer was not able to locate the registered owner but chalked the tires of a vehicle.

A caller Monday evening in the 2600 block of Highway 92 in Washington reported a school bus stop arm violation. The incident is under investigation.

A caller Monday night at 250th Street and Kiwi Avenue in Washington reported that his car was stuck on a dirt road. An officer responded. A towing company also responded and pulled the vehicle out of the mud. The subject was able to go on his way.

 

Disabled vehicles

An officer reported being out with a disabled vehicle, Monday night in the 2100 block of Highway 22 in Kalona. The officer advised that the vehicle would be towed. It was tagged and added to the system.

 

Fire calls

A caller Monday night in the 1000 block of Walnut Avenue in Riverside reported a fire alarm going off. There was no smoke or fire, and the alarm had possibly been set off from shower steam. Riverside Fire responded. There was no fire, just a faulty alarm.

 

Animal complaint

Brian T. Kraus was cited into court for dog at large, Monday in the 500 block of South Second Avenue in Washington, in reference to an incident that occurred on March 3.

 

Disorderly conduct

A caller Tuesday morning in the 400 block of East Polk Street in Washington reported a subject who was becoming agitated and throwing some items. Officers responded. The subject calmed down.

 

Drug/narcotics violation

Dillon Dillavou was charged with possession of a controlled substance – marijuana, first offense, in the 200 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington, in reference to an incident that occurred on March 3.

 

Intimidation/harassment

A caller Monday morning in the 100 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington reported that approximately 5 minutes earlier he was approached by a subject outside the post office, who was verbally aggressive toward him in reference to a court case that had already been settled. An officer spoke with both parties, who were advised to have no further contact with each other.

 

Mental subject

A caller Monday night in the 1000 block of Vine Avenue in Riverside reported that her neighbor had been yelling in his yard for the past hour. A Washington County officer and a Johnson County deputy responded. The male subject was not at his residence. They located him on the side of the road, walking. He was fine and was walking to the gas station.

 

Sexual assault

A caller Monday morning in the 200 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported a sexual assault. The information is under investigation.

 

Suspicious activity

Two callers Tuesday morning in the 300 block of South Farmer Street in Brighton reported suspicious activity. An officer responded and was unable to locate a problem.

A caller Tuesday morning in the 1600 block of North Fifth Avenue in Washington reported suspicious activity. Officers responded and were unable to locate anyone or anything out of place. Extra patrol was provided.

 

Trespass

A caller Monday afternoon reported that a subject crawled through a window of an abandoned trailer. The caller asked the subject to leave, and the subject did not leave. An officer responded. The subject had already left before the officer’s arrival, and the caller did not wish to pursue charges.

 

Welfare check

A caller Monday evening in the 700 block of South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported a young boy near the roadway with no adults in the area. An officer responded. The parents were in the garage and took care of the issue before the officer arrived.

 

All other theft

A caller Monday morning in the 1200 block of 200th Street in Keota reported that subjects came to her residence on Friday, claiming to be from Medicare. The young male claimed he had to scan her meds in his car, and afterward she was missing 24 pills. The caller requested to speak with a deputy. An officer spoke with the caller. The information was documented.

A caller Monday night in the 3000 block of Highway 92 in Ainsworth reported that a semi drove off without paying $32.59 for his fuel. The possible direction of travel was eastbound on Highway 92. An officer was advised and passed the information on to Louisa County. Documentation was made.

 

All other offenses

A caller Monday afternoon in the 300 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported misplacing her billfold the previous day while at a store. She was missing her driver’s license, bank card, insurance cards, an unknown number of blank checks and approximately $35 in cash. An officer was advised for documentation purposes. The caller called back about 40 minutes later to advise that she had located her billfold.

A caller Monday night in the 300 block of East Main Street in Washington reported receiving a Snapchat of subjects being together who had a no-contact order. An officer spoke to the caller and advised that according to the county attorney the protected party would not be charged – only the defendant would be charged. Documentation was made.

A caller Monday night in the 100 block of South Sixth Street in Kalona reported he heard yelling coming from inside a trailer when he dropped off his friend at his residence. An officer responded. Everything was fine. The female subject advised there was no yelling at the residence.
