Arrest

Ulices Montiel Munoz, 22, of Washington, was arrested Wednesday night in the 300 block of West Madison Street in Washington on a Washington County warrant for pretrial violation on controlled substance violation. He was also charged with interference with official acts.

 

Traffic accident

A caller Wednesday morning in the 3000 block of Highway 22 in Riverside reported a car-vs.-semi accident. One subject was complaining of shoulder and neck pain. The vehicle was on its side. A subject was out of the vehicle. An officer, Riverside QRS and Fire, and an ambulance responded. The ambulance transported one male to the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. Damage was over $1,500, and a state accident report will be filed. Douglas Albaugh, of Mechanicsville, was cited for failure to yield upon entering a through highway. A vehicle was towed.

A caller Wednesday morning in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside reported hitting a deer. Air bags deployed, but the caller had no injuries. The subject would like to be en route to work and planned to leave her vehicle there or at the gas station. She was advised that she could fill out a state accident report. An officer was advised for documentation purposes. The officer also checked the area for the vehicle and was unable to locate it.

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 100 block of North Iowa Avenue in Washington reported an accident with a truck vs. a parked car. An officer responded. Damage was under $1,500. Insurance information was exchanged, and no citations were issued.

 

Traffic stop serious

An officer reported being on a vehicle stop, Wednesday morning at Highway 22 and First Avenue in Wellman. Jason Michael Thompson, 37, of Keota, was cited for driving while suspended.

 

Traffic other

A caller Wednesday morning in the 300 block of Highway 1 in Washington reported a school bus stop arm violation that had occurred at about 3:46 p.m. on Monday. A female subject was driving. An officer planned to attempt to contact the driver. Documentation was made for the time being.

A caller Wednesday afternoon at East Fourth Street and North Ella Street in Riverside reported a vehicle that hadn’t been moved for seven to eight months. The vehicle was a white Ford Taurus with a broken headlight. An officer responded and was unable to make contact with the registered owner. The tires were chalked, and the officer planned to check back on Thursday.

 

Fire calls

Hills Fire requested Riverside Fire to be on standby for a ditch fire, Wednesday afternoon at Highway 218 and Observatory Avenue S.W. Riverside Fire was disregarded.

A caller Wednesday evening in the 1200 block of Gum Avenue in Wellman reported a grass fire that had gotten out of control. Wellman Fire responded and extinguished the fire.

 

Animal complaint

A caller Wednesday morning in the 900 block of East Third Street in Washington reported that her neighbor’s black-and-white small dog was in her yard again. She had called about this last week, as well. An officer responded. A verbal warning was given to the dog owner.

 

Assault

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 200 block of East 14th Street in Washington reported that her mother was assaulted and had injuries to her face although was refusing medical attention. An officer responded. The victim was actually the caller’s brother, who received minor scratches. The officer planned to attempt to locate the suspect. A report will be filed.

 

Drug/narcotics violation

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 900 block of West Main Street in Washington reported suspicious activity. Subjects were inside a white Dodge four-door car. Officers responded. Everything was fine.

 

Public service contacts

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 2400 block of Highway 92 in Washington reported a white van in the parking lot, and a male subject holding a sign soliciting money. An officer responded. The subject was asked to move along, and did so.

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 900 block of West Main Street in Washington reported four girls were on top of the pavilion in the park, and this had happened every day during the past week. They were driving a dark-colored sedan. An officer responded and was unable to locate anyone or any vehicles.

 

Runaways/missing person

A caller Wednesday night in the 600 block of West Adams Street in Washington reported that her 12-year-old did not come home from school that day. She was last seen wearing gray-and-black leggings, a two-tone zip-up hoodie and gray boots, and her hair was in a ponytail. An officer spoke to the caller, who had spoken to the juvenile about 5:30 p.m. and she refused to come home. The caller was going to wait to see if she came home that evening before reporting her as missing. At about 10:52 p.m. the officer spoke with the caller again, and she wanted to report the juvenile as missing and fill out a guarantee of transport. The officer located the juvenile at 11:40 p.m. and returned her home.

 

Suspicious activity

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 300 block of East Main Street in Washington reported that a subject put items on her porch, possibly suspicious. An officer responded. The property belonged to the caller, and it was just being returned. The other party was advised, if it should happen again, to call law enforcement or just throw the items away.

 

All other theft

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 200 block of East First Street in Riverside reported a theft. The subject had left the store. An officer responded and located the juvenile subject. Items were returned to the store. A report will be filed.

 

All other offenses

A caller Wednesday afternoon in the 700 block of South Avenue B in Washington reported that a light green bicycle showed up in her driveway near the patio, that was not hers. An officer took the bike to the bike shed. It was a green Kent 20-inch Chaos with grinding pegs front and back. It had no serial number.

A caller Wednesday evening in the 500 block of Monroe Street in Ainsworth reported that a white male came onto her property and was belligerent, and the female believed he opened the gate to the fence where her dogs were. He left, walking toward the park. An officer responded and spoke with the caller and her daughter. The officer was unable to locate the male subject. Documentation was made.
