Arrests

Kathy Ann Johnson, 40, of Vinton, was arrested Thursday afternoon in the 100 block of East Third Street in Vinton on a Washington County warrant for failure to appear for pretrial on fourth-degree theft.

 

Traffic accident

An officer reported a single vehicle accident with no injuries, Thursday afternoon in the 2600 block of Highway 1 in Washington. Two additional officers responded. Mickey Reynolds, of Packwood, was cited for no proof of insurance, and failure to maintain control. Damage was under $1,500. No state report will be filed.

 

Traffic stop serious

An officer reported being on a vehicle stop, Thursday morning in the 1000 block of West Monroe Street in Washington. An additional officer also responded. An officer issued a citation to Odalis Elaine Zamudio, 19, of Washington, for driving under suspension. Court date was set for April 19.

 

Traffic other

A caller Thursday morning in the 100 block of North Avenue C in Washington reported that a vehicle in the area had been parked in the same location for six weeks. It was a white vehicle and looked like a station wagon. An officer tagged the vehicle with a 24-hour tow tag and chalked the tires.

 

Fire calls

A caller Thursday morning in the 1800 block of Orange Avenue in Washington reported a controlled burn that was then going into the corn field. No structures were close. Washington Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.

Johnson County requested Kalona Fire for a report of a fire by the creek, Thursday night in the 1700 block of Black Diamond Road S.W. in Oxford. It was unknown if it was a controlled burn. Kalona Fire responded and assisted. Kalona QRS was disregarded.

Louisa County requested Ainsworth Fire for mutual aid with Columbus Junction for a chimney and attic fire in a house, Friday morning in the 1800 block of County Road X17 in Columbus Junction. Ainsworth Fire responded and assisted.

 

Animal complaint

A caller Thursday morning in the 800 block of South Second Avenue in Washington reported a bulldog that was not on a leash had gone after two of his carriers. No bites had occurred. An officer spoke with the caretaker of the dog, who agreed to make sure the dog wasn’t outside when mail was being delivered.

A caller Thursday night in the 700 block of East Main Street in Washington reported a bat in the residence. An officer responded and removed the bat. The subject later called back, advising there was another bat in his residence. The officer responded and removed the second bat.

 

Civil dispute

A caller Thursday morning in the 1100 block of South Avenue B in Washington requested an officer to speak with a student in reference to a civil situation that happened outside of school. The incident is under investigation.

 

Disorderly conduct

A caller Thursday morning in the 200 block of South Main Street in Crawfordsville reported a volatile subject at the building in reference to a custody issue. The caller requested a deputy. Officers responded. The subject calmed down.

 

DP & Q

A caller Thursday night in the 1000 block of Vine Avenue in Riverside reported that their neighbor was walking down the road, yelling and screaming. An officer was in the area at the time of the call and was unable to locate the subject. Dispatch later received additional calls that the subject was outside, yelling and cursing, possibly on the golf course. Officers responded and located the subject. He went back inside his residence for the night.

 

Intoxicated driver

An officer reported being out with a subject in the parking lot, Thursday night in the 3100 block of Highway 22 in Riverside. An additional office responded. The subject was intoxicated but got a ride with a sober family member.

 

Sexual assault

A caller Thursday night in the 200 block of East Washington Street in Washington reported a possible sexual assault. An officer responded. A report will be filed.

 

Welfare check

A caller Thursday night in the 800 block of 14th Street in Wellman requested a welfare check. An officer responded. Everything was fine.

 

All other offenses

A caller Thursday afternoon in the 2300 block of Yucca Avenue in Ainsworth reported needing an officer for assistance going to a residence. An officer responded and assisted.
